Bowling Bags Are Undoubtedly Back and We Found the Best

15 of the season's best bowlers to get you started...

Best of Bowling Bags 2025 1

Taking their origins from a place of pure function, the incredibly popular bowling bag shape was one of the early 2000s biggest trends. A retro ode to the classic American bowling bags of the past, the shape is defined by its roomy interior and top handle straps. In years past, the bowling bag was synonymous with a designer logo, as most silhouettes were dressed in logo prints.

Everyone from Louis Vuitton and Fendi to Gucci and more tapped into the bowler trend, with Prada, Chanel, and Dior leading the pack and popularizing the shape. The bowling bag silhouette definitely earned its place in modern handbag history, and as all things Y2K continue to trend, it’s not surprising that the iconic top handle silhouette is back, but this time it’s better than ever.

While the original shape of the bowling bag was further characterized by a flat bottom and rounded top with a semi-circular shape, with the resurgence of the trend comes a few variations. Some resemble the classic shape, while others lean more toward a doctor’s bag silhouette. Either way, this year’s bowler bags are chicer than ever, with leather, suede and neutral options galore, the bowlers of the 2020s are far less loud and way more elegant than those of the past.

The bonus? It’s one of the most functional and spacious shapes in the handbag world! As we head into 2025, more versions are coming, but for now, check out 15 finds to wear now and beyond!

The Malletage Alma PM is in my personal handbag hall of fame.

The Row’s Astra reminds me of Hermès’ Victoria, but with even longer, even-more-shoulderable straps. It’s also, relatively, well-priced. Excellent round-up, Kaitlyn.

Yes, I got this bag in December 2023 and it’s definitely one of the favorites in my collection.

Agree! Loved this article and the choices included! Thanks Kaitlyn!

The Hermes Bolide is also this shape.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bad looking Alma. The one posted is just beautiful and stands out among the others here.
