Monday Mystery: DvF Peggy Wrap Bag

A little while back I came across a Valentino bag that was discussion worthy. Don’t get me wrong, EVERY bag is discussion worthy, but there are some that I feel people would be likely to offer their opinions on more than others.

So, here we are again with another another bag that I’d love to hear back from you on. The Diane Von Furstenberg Peggy Wrap Bag has several qualities that I really like while at the same time I am not sure if the bag simply misses the mark.

At first glance, I wanted to like the bag. I saw suede. I saw studs, but not just any studs, metal paillettes. Initially, I was pleased. But then I kept looking and wondered: is this bag actually any good?

Like many handbag lovers, I’ve been more interested in Diane von Furstenberg bags after the release of the Stephanie Bag. That bag was an instant sensation and I’ve been waiting for more like it ever since. However, I think this bag is off. The materials used are fantastic, but when combined, they seem to fall short. Although I understand the adjustable, wraparound buttoned strap, again, it seems off. Everything works against one another, not with one another. This bag, if done correctly would be fabulous to tote around during the day as it would be for certain nights out. But, there is something that just doesn’t work. What do you think? Buy through Shopbop for $950.

I think your line “everything works against one another, not with one another” says it all…perfectly! I don’t like this bag at all.

This just looks unbelievably stupid. Sorta like a grade school project. Hey, how many studs and stud-like metal things can we slam on this bag? Yuck.

Cheryl

The bag does nothing for me. I would never think someone paid $950 for that bag.

Jacqueline Suzanne

This bag definitely missed the mark!!!

The adjustable strap is too long and sticks out too much. If you took all the studs off it would look boring and the studs don’t really make it that interesting either. Loose/ Loose situation.

I love this bag, and it is in my wishlist. However, solely from the practical point of view, I find the tightening belt design quite inconvenient. The belt goes through the bag including its _inside_, and the stuff you put in the bag gets messed up with the belt parts. Weird.
I would not buy it at the current price, because the lovely Lockheart Rihanna bag is much more desirable at half the price.

That bag is ugly. Plain and simple. They tried to take a nothing color and jazz it up. This doesn’t look like anything that I would EVER see Diane wear.

No, no, no.I like the Stephanie bag, but I really hate all the silver on this bag. I do love DVF clothes, as a rule.

Chris

I usually adore DvF, but this bag is really ugly.

Anyone who was a teenager in the 70’s will remember this: it reminds me of the shoulder bags we used to make out of an old pair of jeans, and then we’d embellish it message buttons and patches.

Terri

OMG! Your right! I remember those bags. Ugh I’m old!

ugly. sorry dvf but it looks like it was made in home ed class

The jury is still out on this one…

Nata

It is a normal, lovely, soft bag. Try it on first.
Only the price is out of proportions.

not my favorite – DVF has done much better (fb)

Jocelyn

I like the structure but not the design.
