Try as I might, I rarely find an occasion on which I think a bag looks better with multicolor studs than it would have looked with just one shade. Perhaps it’s for the same reason that I don’t like to mix my metals when choosing accessories and jewelry.

I know it’s an old-fashioned habit, and I’m very much not an old-fashioned kind of gal, but the mix of gold, silver and gunmetal on the Rebecca Minkoff Linear Stud Darling Hobo just bothers me.

With the navy blue leather, if the studs had all been gunmetal (or even regular silver), I would have been all for it. All gold? Probably not – the combination of weathered gold and navy blue is a but too nautical for me. The combination of all three metals is even less my style, and still reads slightly sailor-y. Am I being too uptight about mixing metals? Buy through ShopBop for $595.

I must object and comment that I enjoy this studed hobo. The mix of metal means I can match it with just about anything. How do you feel about mixing black and navy…..? :)

I’m fine with black and navy, and also black with most shades of brown.

I personally don’t object to the mixed metals or the Darling’s design itself, which is nice because it’s surprisingly light and roomy. I do however object to the quality of RM’s bags – they are insultingly overpriced for the inconsistency of the offerings. Just call me a former RM fan…

I haven’t had any quality issues in over a year now and I am a retailer of hers. The leather on this bag is the nicest she has ever used. I could not say the same before. For what it is worth…

Linear stud is my favorite Darling style. Mixing metals are very popular today in jewelry and you just have to get past that (unless you like being old fashioned) This bag is the perfect way to get you started. The days of strictly matching metals is over Amanda, time to mix it up and have some fun. I know you can do it!

I don’t like this bag. I don’t like the way it hangs. But the studs, I’m feeling those.

I saw this bag in the off white color and it is stunning. I thought I was so over studs, but I may have to hunt this one down for summer. Saks in my area can’t keep them on the shelf.

I like the mix of metal on this bag. I think that it makes if fun and it means it goes with anything! Fantastic job, RM! (fb)
