A couple weeks ago, I introduced the Reed Krakoff RK40 to you, and now there’s a new iteration of this bag which, coincided with the brand’s new Soho boutique opening. It may be a material you wouldn’t associate with a bag, but this limited edition version is made from Reed Krakoff’s signature grey felt.
Reed Krakoff has a unique design aesthetic, one that merges elegance with incredibly clean lines. His bags are no different, and while I first liked the RK40, I’ve completely fallen for this felt version. I’m so intrigued by this bag, and I frankly it surprises me a bit.
Reed Krakoff told us, “Grey felt has been a signature of the brand since the beginning. There’s a chicness to its simplicity that I love. Combining it with the brights of this French calfskin gives the RK40 a new personality–the combination of creative expression and sophistication that feels very SoHo.”
Felt is a material we don’t see used on the exterior of many bags, but on this bag it works so well. I worried the felt wouldn’t hold up, but the interior is lined in calf leather, which will give the bag great shape. With only 40 pieces in existence, each has been personally hand-signed and numbered by Reed.
The majority of the bag features the grey felt, but leather detailing on the handles and hangtag are offered in 9 different offsetting colors. I’m digging the purple, but the white version is amazing; it features a light blue interior calf lining. Each bag was made in Reed’s New York atelier, and with only 40 pieces, these are sure to sell out. You can get yours for $1,290 via Reed Krakoff.
gahhhhh some of the colors are sold out already!
I just checked it now and there are still all the colors, unless there was more than the 9 that was listed.
I know, I’m asking if there is more stock
Ah! Got one! I don’t think I have ever bought something on such an impulse before.
Did you! Please come back and tell us how it is! I am super intrigued!
So I returned it. I loved the color and I liked the felt, but (a) it seemed like it would pill and stain easily (point below about Starbucks is well taken); and (b) I realized that it looked like a spring/summer bag but who wants to carry wool felt in spring/summer? It is too pale for winter and the material seemed wrong for the warmer months. So, back it went. (Such is the way of impulse purchases I guess.)
hello I m Marie from Paris
I realy like this bag, unfortunately it is sold out….
So if someone want to resell it… i will pay for it … more than the price
Will do. I ordered the one with vachetta/cobalt. Can’t wait – I think it will be great for spring, with navy.
Oooh! When I was looking at the options I thought that that was the best one and probably will be the most sought after one. Congrats!
These look terrible
*rest bag on ledge at Starbucks*…….great! now it’s soaked up a coffee spill. Great to look at, but totally impractical for durability.
You could say the same thing about any nice bag – who in their right mind puts a bag down on a ledge full of coffee?
Blame the bag – not the genius who set it down in a pile of coffee.
I’ve heard it all.
I adore these bags.
