The forum has always been the place to go for the latest handbag news. Not only can you log in and see what’s hot today, but you can search through the old threads and see what was hot ten years ago. Scrolling through the threads of the past is one of my favorite things to do as it’s like going through a digital time machine. It’s fun to see how opinions on certain bags have changed over time, comparing the bags people once coveted and spent top dollar on and seeing what they go for now.
That was the inspiration for this new series where we comb through old posts from a Brand’s past, pick out some iconic pieces, and see what they’re going for now. So with that being said let’s see the bags of Dior’s past!
2009 Dior Gaucho Double Saddle
Do you all remember when the Dior Gaucho Double saddle was all the rage? I remember seeing this bag all over in the early 2000s. This Blue beauty was shared by our member Elsie87 in the “Your Diors in Action!” thread back in 2009. Today this bag sells for a fraction of what it retailed for, often selling in the $500-$800 range.
2005 Dior Limited Edition Wristlet
I guess I have another bag on my wishlist courtesy of our member Mooshooshoo, this fluffy limited edition Detective wrist clutch shared to the “2005 S/S Detective, Paris 50’s, Denim, Flowers, Trotter Romantique (pictures only)” thread. Though I wasn’t able to find this bag anywhere on the internet at the moment I did notice that the RealReal has a large selection of vintage Dior.
2004 Dior D’Trick
A bag I have been seeing all over Instagram recently the D’Trick! This lovely photo was shared by our member michi_chi in the “2004 S/S D’Trick, Ballet, Pink Girly, Diva, Poison (pictures only)” thread back in 2012. A year or so ago I was helping my friend look for this bag, and at that time it was selling in the $300-$400 range, now it looks like it’s selling in the $700-$1000 range.
2008 Lady Dior
In love with this 2008 Lady Dior in Amethyst that was shared by our member cilifene in the “The Lady Dior (pictures only)” thread.
Such a stunning color. Though I wasn’t able to find this exact Lady Dior out there on the big wide web, I was able to find a similar but slightly more pastel version at Fashionphile for $2,795.
Dior Trotter Rasta
Whether you loved it or hated it we can’t deny that the Dior Rasta bags were some of the hottest of their time. This set was shared by our member gingerfarm in the “Look what I got from the outlets!!!” back in 2007. But a bit of good news if you’re looking for one of these pieces you’re in luck because Farfetch currently has one in stock!
Dior Saddle Special Edition China Dragon Ball
Up next is probably one of the coolest Saddle bags I’ve ever seen a Special Edition Dragon bag shared by our member kellyng in the “Your Diors in Action!” thread. This whole outfit is amazing! I searched the web far and wide and unfortunately could not find this bag for sale anywhere, but I did discover that 1st Dibs has a wide selection of special edition Saddle bags.
Love Dior! I do not have one in my collection yet! Next year I need a Lady Dior. The Double Saddle is still pretty cool to look at, also looks heavy to carry!
Same here. Hoping for my first lady dior this christmas.
I love Dior bags and jewelry and clothes… everything Dior 😅. So far I collected vintage pieces including 80’s/00’s bag, 70’s/00’s wallets, 80’s belt, 70’s/80’s/00’s jewelry, even baby clothes. One of my fav is this cannage lamb skin drawstring bag btw $300 – $500, beautiful and practical.
The Gaucho saddle was my favorite then. ❤
I always find myself drawn to Dior
How is the Samurai not listed here?
I have always loved Dior, however I have not purchased one yet. I have been eyeing the Bobby bag. I may have to pull the trigger this year.
omg the Dragon Saddle Bag is everything!!! now i’m on the hunt!
I absolutely love Dior but have never been a fan of the saddle bag. The lady Dior is dreamy and a timeless piece that transcends fashion. The Dior collection peaked in my opinion under the tutelage of RAF Simmons. The only other Dior bag that compares to the Lady is the Diorrisimo which is a true work of art in fashion and craftsmanship. The leather they used and prints and designs epitomized the Dior spirit of beauty and elegance.
Ive never paid attention at the saddle bag but when i tried it on, it looked so cute on me. I bought the standard sized one in cloud blue and it’s staying with me. It looks so nice on the crook of the arm or over the shoulder. It’s a good break from the usual Chanel flap that everyone is wearing. And not another boring black bag.
