Our PurseForum’s last major downtime for software upgrades happened in 2016. We had then transitioned from one software platform to another, and while today’s maintenance is not quite as major, it still marks an important milestone for the community. For the most part, you can expect things to remain familiar visually, but there will be a lot of new useful, functional features and much improved mobile compatibility.
The new software will also pave the way for other very exciting initiatives we have planned for later this year. Megs and I are super excited and we’re sorry to be subjecting you all to the temporary board closure, but we promise that your favorite community of bag lovers will return better than ever!
In the meanwhile, feel free to use the comment section below as an open thread to chat on. We hope you’re all well, I will be updating this post a little later once I have an idea of when you can expect TPF to return!

When we started the forum, we had to be down for maintenance for a few days at a time, and it sent people into major withdrawals!

Advice needed! I escaped ban island and purchased a 2018 LV Time Trunk Speedy from Rebags. I was excited because I’ve been wanting to repurchase a Speedy 25 for a long time.
Obviously with this bag being 2 years old I knew it would not be pristine, they did disclose that there was a hole on the inside. Now that I have the bag in hand, the hole on the inside is a missing LV rivet. (I don’t know if it’s worth taking to the store to see if that can be replaced), the next thing I noticed is that the original lock was missing but Rebags put an older lock w keys on the zipper pull. The last missing item is the booklet and barcode tab that comes w the bags.
So now I’m thinking about returning it. The bag was about 20% over retail with taxes and what not but with these issues I don’t think I can love it. I’ve checked other online shops but the ask is like 40% plus over retail and that I cannot swing. With it being a limited edition bag from two years a go, it is hard to find. What would you do in this situation?
I had LV replace a missing rivet on a speedy- it was a free repair- they fixed in store, didn’t have to send out ?. I did have to leave it with them and go back to pick it up a few days later. It was returned to me with a brand new dustbag too?

I think you’re already answered your own question. If you don’t think you can love it why keep it? At the very least Rebag owes you a partial refund for non-disclosure of the missing rivet and the replaced lock. If the booklet and barcode tab weren’t mentioned in the listing I think you have to assume they weren’t included.
Ya, my biggest problem with what was shared about the purchase is the undisclosed issues the bag has. That would be a problem for me, and I’d look for a refund or at the very least money back. If you aren’t absolutely in love with the bag, I’d make it simpler and consider a return. But I would also bring that up with them either way – they left some major information out which lead you to purchase the bag.
I think you’re right. I guess typing it makes it obvious I’m already checked out on the bag, it’s just unfortunate because I really want it but hopefully another one will be available to me one day.
agreed, i find that when purchasing second hand, items like booklets, barcode tabs, receipt, etc should not be expected unless mentioned in the listing.

Good news. Its hard to find targeting information because everything is jumbled together. And explanation of the thread categories would be helpful. Whats the difference between clubhouse / shopping / reference / etc?
The forum is primarily for bags but the other forms could use support. The ones for jewelry and shoes are weak.
So we’ve actually been talking about this a bit. It gets a bit confusing with how many different subforums we have and categories.
– Shopping is about stores, pricing info, where to find certain specific bags.
– Clubhouse is for the threads where people talk about a specific bag or share images of said specific products from the brand.
– Reference is about sizing, materials, etc.

Suggestions for jewelry: restrict to fine jewelry, forums or categories for most popular materials (silver, gold, diamond, precious), Asian & Western designer sub forums, more brands, etc. I think now you only have VanCleef & Tiffany’s (BOR-ING!)
Suggestions for shoes: organize by designer, style sub forums (heels, booths, comfort), etc. Maybe sub forum for non-leather shoes. Vegans aren’t the only ones looking for non-leather shoes.

I also have a hard time finding targeted information. I think a “search” button to type in keywords for matches would be helpful.
We do have a search button. But to be honest, it’s just a lot a lot of information. We are trying to find a way to make it easier in each subforum to see everything together, versus separating it all out!

I’m so addicted to TPF, but one thing I’d really love (although it’s probably a bit late to mention it now) is the ability to search for posts that contain photos.
I vaguely remember being able to do this years ago, unless it was just the threads I was mostly using at the time. More recently it’s definitely a case of sifting through lots of results looking for the ones that contain pics if you need a photo of something specific. ie. slouchy blue Birkin in the search and then be able to select results that contain pics only. Not sure that’s possible, but it would be lovely!
Nonetheless I look forward to being up and running again soon and thank you for all the hard work. This site has kept me sane the past few months (well as sane as a handbag addict can be anyway!!).

I’ve finally decided to pay the extra taxes and have bags that have been sitting in my US mail mailbox shipped to me in Canada. No end in sight to the border closure so I can’t go and pick up and they’ve been there since March. Anyone else have stuff sitting in purgatory?

I have shoes and some clothes in purgatory, but no bags. I would be going crazy if I had bags sitting there waiting for me. Thankfully my US postal receiving service isn’t charging any holding fees because of COVID. They said they will hold onto it for as long as it takes for the border to reopen, and will only charge the normal receiving fee.
I replied earlier but I don’t see it? My receiving service will hold as long as necessary for free as well but my bags have been sitting there since March and I’ve run out of patience!

Advice needed!! I got some candle wax on my Gucci Dionysus, does anyone know how to remove it without damaging the bag? Any advice is appreciated!
I would put it in the fridge so the wax gets cold and then take the bag out and bend it around, the wax won’t bend and will most likely fall off. I wouldn’t try to melt the wax, it may just spread the wax around.

I love the idea of the paper bag that Antonia has posted below. I would chime in and instead of an iron you can also try a blow dryer on low so you can control the heat a bit more as you are melting the wax.
I’m not sure about bags but I remember years ago my mother had a trick to get candle wax off of clothing. You put a paper bag over the wax and use an iron….the wax melts and the bag absorbs it. I don’t know if I’d try it on a bag…I’d be so afraid to ruin it. If you do try it, use very low heat! Good luck!

You should ask Farfetch. Most stores will provide a refund, because UPS should have insurance to deal with this stuff, and then Farfetch can go after UPS instead. You shouldn’t be out of pocket for something like this!

Hi! I just bought the LV Emilie wallet in Damier Ebene with my initials hot stamped. I was super sad to see this was done 3 times. Twice without foil and once with in different places. Anyone had a similar experience? This cannot be normal right?

Does Prada not come with boxes? I ordered a bag from Nordstrom and thought it was a little odd that I was just sent a dust bag in plastic and it made me feel like I was sent an item someone had returned. Should I be concerned or is this just a thing with Prada? I remember getting a box with sunglasses and shoes (though it looked very cheap) but I guess I’ve never bought a bag from them…
I have noticed that Department stores rarely send a box with a bag. So I purchase it directly from the designer. I feel that they put more pride into their shipment and they care about the product and the customer.

when i purchased mine a week or so ago it was avaialble at 9am, also when checking today it was available at 16:30, apparently good times to check are 3-5am, 7-9am, 10:30-1:00 pm and 4:30-6:00pm , hope this helps xx
