Even if you don’t live in a major fashion city where going to sample sales is a form of cardio, you’ve likely heard the lore behind them.
Plus, thanks to social media, you can experience the thrill of the hunt all from the comfort of your bed with a bowl of gluten-free peanut butter pretzels beside you and a crisp Diet Coke in hand (just me?), all without ever having to actually spend a dime.
But if you had access to them, would you actually consider camping out overnight to score a crazy good deal?
The Extreme Side of Fashion Devotion
Deal hunters eager to snag a rogue Margaux Bag or pair of leather ballet flats for a fraction of The Row’s retail price recently thought the streets of New York were worthy of a slumber party for the deals waiting in the morning.
Another TikToker reported that the line started at 9pm the evening before the sale opened to the public. Talk about dedication.
While I can’t say I’ve ever set up camp on a city sidewalk just to snag an insane bag deal, I’ve definitely done some things that anyone outside of the fashion world would probably deem psychotic.
Your Turn: How Far Would You Go?
Like checking the sale selection of Net-a-Porter every hour on the hour, hoping someone had returned the deal that slipped through my fingers, or following a stranger through the Chloé sample sale, hoping the Mini Marcie she was clutching fell from her grip—it didn’t.
So, what about you? Have you ever gone sidewalk camping? What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to snag a bag deal?

I love The Row but no, not doing that.
No respectable lady is standing on line or tenting for a bag – these are online resellers and quite frankly this should be illegal
