FASHIONPHILE Just Dropped Its Annual Luxury Resale Report—Here’s What You Should Know

The bags, brands, and more that ruled resale this year.

FASHIONPHILE ULTRA LUXUR y RESALE REPORT1

The secondhand market for luxury goods has changed dramartically in the last two decades, with the last decade specifically being a pivitol point for resale, which boomed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Making up 12 percent of market value for luxury goods, secondhand luxury goods are a $50 billion business.

That said, it’s not surprising that each year new resale companies are popping up, looking to get a piece of the secondhand luxury pie, when ten or even five years ago, the market used to be ruled by a handful of companies selling luxury second-hand.

FASHIONPHILE has been a leader in the market for over 25 years later, remaining one of the world’s top resellers of pre-owned luxury goods, and there’s a reason why we return to them time and time again. With a selection that is unmatched and authenticity guaranteed, FASHIONPHILE opens the door of accessibility in terms of availability and price for buyers.

As a seller, I’ve personally sold many bags through FASHIONPHILE, and while I have expert knowledge, knowing what is best to sell when, for those who don’t work with bags everyday FASHIONPHILE compiles all of this information yearly, and its 2025 Ultra-Luxury Resale Report just dropped.

Here are our key takeaways:

The Classics Never Go Out of Style

The Louis Vuitton Speedy was the number-one selling bag last year, FASHIONPHILE reported, followed closely by the Chanel Double Flap Bag. If you’re selling—you’ll make a decent return on these bags, espeically those in tip top shape.

If you’re buying—you can shop with the assurance that down the line your purchase will retain some of its value. This is especially comforting for those making their first luxury purchase.

Denim Is a Wardrobe Staple

We’ve been saying it for years—denim has completely transcended trend and is a full-on wardrobe staple. While it once felt frivolous to buy a denim designer bag, these days you can buy with ease, knowing that your denim carry is an investment that will remain relevant for years to come.

If you’re looking for a vintage denim bag or simple looking to snag a deal on denim, you’re not alone. This year denim bags saw a 23.5% increase in sales year over year.

Cool Collabs Ruled the Resale Scene

One of the most talked-about handbag moments of 2025 was Louis Vuitton’s reunion with Takashi Murakami. The duo re-released coveted favorites like Multicolore Monogram, Monogram Cherry Blossoms and Monogram Cerises, which was first released in 2005, celebrating its 20th anniversary perfectly timed with the collection’s launch.

According to data, searches for Louis Vuitton x Murakami  jumped a whopping 1,129% from last year, cementing LV x TM as the hottest collab of the 2020s.

Other Things to Note

While bag charms and smaller accessories continue to rule the primary market, they’ve take over the resale market too. Favorites included the Louis Vuitton Fleur De Monogram and Hermès Rodeo Horse. When it came to brands, Louis Vuitton and Chanel are always big time sellers, but in the last year, Goyard has been the underdog to watch, with year over year searches spiking 400%.

This means Goyard is now a mainstream brand that every middle schooler knowns. Even though they try to act that they are exclusive. (Which of course is a joke as none of these brands are exclusive or rare).

Fun read, the full report is definitely worth a read, I love buying and selling with fashionphile, always a good experience. I love hunting for usual bags that I may have missed when they first came out or maybe they started to grow on me overtime, regardless I love the hunt, its so much more fun to me than just walking in a store and paying full price.
