Louis Vuitton always has a seasonal handbag output that dwarfs its competitors. That makes sense—not only is LV the world’s biggest luxury brand, but its heritage is entirely in leather goods, whereas most premium designer brands started with clothing. Even with that it mind, it seems like Vuitton has released more new lines in the last couple seasons than usual—we just caught up with the debut of the Time Trunk bags two weeks ago, and now the brand is at it again, this time with the Louis Vuitton Patches Bags.
The Patches line is what it sounds like—the brand has remade some of its most popular bags and small leather goods with fun graphics meant to evoke the patches and stickers applied to travel bags and trunks of the past. On an aesthetic level, the Patches bags are very similar to the My LV World Tour line, which allows shoppers to pick their own patches and apply them to popular monogram pieces for women or Damier Graphite travel gear for men, resulting in a customized bag. With this line, the embellishments come pre-chosen, and the price point is slightly higher for reasons that are not totally clear. In most circumstances, I’d expect a customized bag to be more expensive, simply because they have to be manufactured one at a time.
All of the Patches bags use a monogram base, and the line includes classic bags like the Neverfull Tote, Alma PM, Pochette Metis and Bandouliere Speedy. If Louis Vuitton is indeed doing more one-off seasonal lines, its not difficult to see why: The brand’s fans have a seemingly bottomless interest in new versions of monogram classics. Seasonal embellished releases are a great way to create repeat buyers for some of the brand’s most popular styles, and even though this line just launched, several of the styles are already sold out online. Check out the bags and small leather goods from the collection below, along with their pricing information.
The charm/key holder is cute.
That’s the ONLY one I liked. Good for my cc’s I suppose.. lol
I’m a “no, thank you” on this style, but that’s because I like things simple. I can see why people would want these – they’re fun!
lol like these won’t date in 20 minutes…
I think the patches are really fun, but it seems kind of excessive to have LV patches on top of an LV print
No, thanks – the patches cheapen the look of the bags and take away from the timelessness one expects when one pays the price for LV bags.
“Mais, NON!” Look like varsity collegiate redux…. from Dooney or Coach circa the 1990s!
Perhaps if I were 16… Way too cutesy for what is supposed to be a classy, upscale bag.
As the biggest lux brand in the world, they should own that and stop making these cheap-looking trendy collections for relevancy. I am not a huge LV fan but have great appreciation for their heritage and they should too.
Beautifully said. I totally agree!
tacky much?
The only seasonal line of LV that I love is the Kabuki collection. Others seem way too forgettable.
These bags are fun to look at. Perfect for the person that does not take himself/herself too seriously. However, I am more interested in seeing an expansion of Vuitton’s mascot, Vivienne, starting with a silk scarf in her honor.? She could be featured more in its accessories department.
I saw nearly the same patches at Primark ?
The brand makes many gorgeous products but that ain’t one of them. This patch trend needs to wwwGoAwayDotCom.
Love the patches! It is fun to have a simple outfit with an eye catching bag. Life is too short to be boring.
Expensive and lux are not the same thing.
..
Better than their Miami line, but still redundant. 🙁 I just expect more from LV. Maybe I need to lower my expectations.
Just order the city pouch, I don’t mind the fun print on my city pouch but I wouldn’t want it on a big speedy or neverful!
Also the city pouch will just be my everyday in the gym grocery store bag only lol so it’s ok! Would love it plain without the graphics though!
