Introducing Medea Handbags, the Minimalist Bag Brand We Love

If you're sick of logos and overly designed bags, you'll love our newest discovery

One of the things I love most about living in New York City (and trust me there are so many!), is the ease of discovering new brands. I live in the Lower East Side, and my neighborhood is a hotbed for creative types. From the minute I walk out of my apartment I am surrounded by fashion and culture. And while there are many other cities that can leave someone instantly inspired, I just love the energy of New York (though currently I’m anxious to visit Paris again and Copenhagen for the first time).

A few weeks ago I was wandering around my neighborhood on an unusually warm winter day, iced coffee with oat milk in hand, people watching and enjoying the unseasonably warm sun. I stopped to peek into the window of a cool store when a tall, willowy figure (presumably one of NYC’s many models) emerged wearing an incredibly simple, yet chic, all black outfit. In her hand was a boxy, but seemingly nondescript bag, and I squinted to try to quickly read the name. It’s times like those when I’m thankful for my 20/20 vision. I took a mental note and moved on, completely forgetting about said bag until Priyanka Chopra was spotted in New York with the same bag in tow.

I decided to delve into this bag brand a little more and was intrigued by what I discovered. Medea was created by two former models Camilla and Guila, who also happen to be twin sisters. Medea bags are characterized by their ubiquitous shape, which is easily compared to that of a shopping bag. Each bag is structured in shape and is incredibly sleek. There are different sizes as well as leather finishes. A current favorite of influencers and celebs, it’s not long until these bags reach cult status. Does anyone realise that Medea in Greek mythology killed her own children, chopped her brother up into pieces and burned alive her ex’s new girlfriend?! Not really the name of a bag I’d happily carry LOL ?

Robert Goode

2019: Year of the Witch. We’re making Devil-worship modern and uplifting and naming handbags after child-killing witches from Greece.

I am 1000% on board with this.

Not a fan. It looks like someone took a regular paper shopping bag and made a leather version of it, but it still looks like a paper shopping bag.

Kenzie

Totally looks like a paper to-go bag. No thanks.

RR

Useless and impractical

Samantha

Ugly and impractical .. where is the organization or proper handles. They look like they will fall apart and break with any weight added to the bag.

BB

Looks like Celine!

Darietta

I wish

Timothy

Ew …….

Belle

Very cute and fun, and I appreciate that PB is introducing lesser known brands! These bags are too expensive for what they are, but the mini ones are adorable.

Aliza Zibkoff

It’s kind of a one trick pony brand. The idea of less is more can only go so far. I do like the croco version though.

FashionableLena

Not a fan. The straps look inadequate for the size. It just looks like a really nice shopping bag.

Sparky

Exactly what I was thinking. Straps too thin for the bag size. Overpriced too.

Smithy

Nothing special and I hate the name.

Master Green

Why do you hate the name?

Smithy

Because I think of Madea the movie character. Because it sounds like a pharmaceutical company. And now I guess because it’s some sick greek mythology character. It’s just bad.

Irma Segovia

I also love when you guys do posts about newer/smaller brands but this brand is super boring and I’m not expecting much from them. There’s a difference between minimalism and just plain boring and these are on the wrong side.

Darietta

Exactly. I don’t get this brand. Those super thin handles don’t look comfortable at all AND they don’t look particularly cool in any way…so, what’s the point?

Bryan Lepe

Uhm. April fools? Medea’s family reunion is back!

bir

love it !!!! but i am a minimalist reason why i love the Birkin shadow !!!!

Medea

This is a joke…right? These are really awful!
