As you may have noticed, we’ve officially crossed over into the second half of July, which means retailers are getting eager to tempt us with visions of cooler temperatures via their newest fall arrivals. This season, Neiman Marcus was the first retailer we spotted out of the gate with a section devoted strictly to browsing handbag pre-orders for the new season, and it contains some super fun runway finds that you might have spotted during our coverage of the season’s shows.
Even if you’re not in the buying mood right now, pre-orders are still my favorite time to browse a site’s inventory. They’re when you’ll see the super-limited bags that will disappear long before sale season, the store exclusives that other retailers will never receive, and all the generally weird and unique things that still makes fashion fun. You can check out over a dozen of my favorites below or shop the full selection via Neiman Marcus.
Wow, not many of them I would carry if they were free. I have a fondness of all things Balenciaga and the Alexander McQueen bucket is nice and ok maybe the Saint Laurent. The Off-White bag is cool for a certain demographic. The Nancy Gonzalez bag is just hideous.
These are some of the ugliest bags I have ever seen. I am taken aback by the Valentino, Versace, and Balenciaga bags. I literally gasped out loud (and not in at the Valentino bag.
( and not in a good way)
Love the Off-White bag.
I like a little tacky in my life. However, I kinda hate that I’m loving the Balenciaga and Valentino bags. I feel like I shouldn’t, but they’re really speaking to me.
I must be so old, because all of these bags either look hideous or derivative to me. Either way, I’ll stick with my classics.
Maybe I’m picky but I wouldn’t touch any of these.
Pass on all of the above! Maybe I’m at the age where I jyet want a classic bag… but as most handbags are priced in two k plus $$$, i would never waste money on any of this!
I really love Nancy Gonzalez designs – so pretty and such detail! But the price point with the exotic leathers is just not for me.
I’m gonna take a pass sweetie.
I love a lot of these. Dynamic accent pieces but I can’t afford to spend so much on a trendy bag. These are for very wealthy women – enjoy lucky ladies!!!
Favorites: 13,11,5,3,2 (without the Bal scrawled over it)
Chloé is abusing rings for hardware. Home Depot is gonna start to have a shortage on door knobs.
Another day is saved thanks to the Powerpuff Girls… or the Prada bag
(Font joke)
Never mind the Publix font they’re using. I smell a lawsuit on Publix’s part.
Hard PASS
Of all of these, the only one I like is Alexander McQueen’s, but I don’t normally carry bucket bags. The BV bag is well made (as always!) but that color scheme is soooo early 1970s and not in a good way. Avocado green, dirt brown, harvest gold and orange? That was the color scheme of the synthetic wall to wall carpeting in my parents’ first home. I was glad to get away from it — I’m not going to spend thousands to carry it around on my shoulder!
I would be great to have more Versace here, please.
The Mansur Gavriel Rounded Tote is the only one I would even consider. Very classic.

The St Laurent bag is an exact copy of a Furla bag I purchased in Bologna in 1987. I now use it as my sewing basket as it is highly impractical to carry.
