Throwback Thursday: Stars and Their Gucci Bags

Gucci has changed quite a lot over the years...

When it comes to popular bag brands, there are over a handful of iconic design houses that come to mind. Many of them have a storied background that is rooted in both history and craftsmanship. Among luxury Italian brands specifically, Gucci is one of the most popular brands in its category. While the brand began as a small family business, it has grown into a huge luxury brand which bag lovers know and love today. Gucci is both known and recognized for its unmistakable GG monogram and its iconic green, red, green Gucci web.

However, over the years Gucci has produced a myriad of different bags and silhouettes with various aesthetics, depending on the designer. One of the brand’s most notable, and widely discussed, design periods was the Tom Ford era, during which the Gucci Dragon Shoulder Bag that Nicky Hilton is carrying below, was created. The bags here span many years and various designers, with the first bag being carried by Jennifer Lopez 20 years ago. Take a look below at what we were able to dig up and let us know if you have (or remember) any of these bags.

I love Bethenny’s vintage bags in the last two pics – especially the navy one. I wish Gucci would make more blue GG bags. I love the look with denim.

Gucci remade Bethenny’s navy bag more recently (link below) but this one definitely appears to be 80s era due to the thinner stripes!

I STILL want Nicky Hilton’s Gucci bag, but they are so expensive!

Oh my when did Bethenny become a star? You can do better and find “real” stars

Like her or not, Bethenny is widely known as an entrepreneur, reality star and mega philanthropist. She also has great style.

Gah I used to love Gucci. Remember when it was THE IT brand? Maybe it will come back around one day.

Gucci has really changed over the years. If there’s one bag I could buy from 10 years ago it would be the Indy…. although it’s completely impractical for me.

Eve

Ha, I like exactly none of these!

Sarah

Jlo s had great plastic surgery

Oh I LOVE these throwback posts!! Seeing so many of the bags I absolutely LUSTED over–and some I bought!!– is so fun! The prices!! $350 for JLo’s Gucci?? $320 for Bethenny’s?? ugh! Please do more of these with different designers!! 🙂

Kaitlin Serio

We will!! 🙂

Some designs withstood the test of time well (like the one on Brooke Shields), and other designs did not age well!

What a beautiful photo of Jennifer Lopez she looks like a teenager

Love this post. I have the Sukey tote in Chocolate Brown leather which I purchased in 2012. So nice to see it actually carried. I bought it because it was a low key Gucci bag without the loud monogram or the GG symbol. Still have that bag & love it.
