I know what most of you are thinking at this very moment in time—that bag looks like Christmas! I’m not going to lie, it certainly does look like Christmas, but weirdly enough, I really like it, and when I confessed to Amanda that I was digging this bag her exact words were, “Oddly enough, I do too.” This metallic mini-bag popped up on my radar recently when I spotted my friend (and hair colorist) wearing it in one of her Instagram photos. She was vacationing in Italy at the time, and when I first got a glimpse of the bag, I honestly thought she had hit the vintage jackpot abroad—it gave off that kind of vibe! Being the bag detective that I am, I zoomed on in, saw the Gucci logo, screamed “LOOK HOW CUTE THIS BAG IS” at my roommate, and with a quick Google search, I had found the bag. Naturally, my next order of business was to email our friends at Gucci to see if I could get a sample to photograph and review. My friend was wearing this bag in a cool blue tone, but Gucci sent it over in this fun red and green version.

If I were to describe this bag in one word, I would simply say it is fun. The metallic quilting and contrasting braided strap make this bag super funky and eye-catching. This is not your average bag, it’s made to make a statement, which is abundantly clear in the fact that it’s not offered in solids or neutrals. If you’re buying this bag, it’s because you want it to stand out, and with my basic, neutral wardrobe, this is exactly the kind of bag I need. Crafted from quilted matelassé metallic leather, this bag is one of the standouts from Gucci’s Fall 2018 Collection. It features a new style of logo hardware, which merges the classic Gucci interlocking GG and horsebit, and I love the contrasting gold and silver.
Inside, the bag is lined in a pretty floral print and features one zippered pocket on the back interior, as well as a slit pocket on the front interior. I love the outside pocket as well, which was big enough to hold my iPhone X, saving me enough space inside to fit in a small zip-around wallet, my sunglasses in the case, a small cosmetics pouch, and a protein bar. Overall dimensions of the Gucci Metallic Mini Bag are 5.5″H x 7″W x 1.5″D, and you can snag it for $1,200 via Gucci. I really adore this in the original color way I spotted it in, but the pastel metallic version is also really pretty as well. Bravo Alessandro Michele, you’ve gone and done it again!
I’m actually liking this!
I’m sure it’s just me but it looks too Christmas-like for me.
This is surprisingly really cute! Great for events and special occasions.
Christmas ornament or candy cane??? LOL conceptually fun but will not see the green color of my dollars … ha ha ha
It looks sooo sooo cheap! And I don’t usually offend bags that way, lol
There is a lot to like about it! But it’s a But pricy for the short shelf life… like many bags today ??
Kind of like Gucci x Vera Bradley.
Love Gucci. Still carried the brand even when they were “out of style”. I love how they continue to keep things modern and fresh.
HOWEVER, I can’t with this. It looks so cheap. I looked at the other colors, and they’re worse.
This looks like a child’s purse LOL
LOVE the style, hate the color options. If they did one in gold/silver or in contrasting jewel tones, I would buy the hell out of it. But not the colors on offer.
Perfect for a young girl, very cutesy
I’ve been feeling Gucci in recent years, but unfortunately I’ll have to concur with those who think this one looks a bit cheap. It’s just not for me.
This will go perfectly with my Dora the Explorer costume this Halloween
Or Mrs. Claus can wear it this Christmas.
When a brand sends a bag to PB for review I assume the brand takes a look at the post to read the comments. I wonder what Gucci thinks when almost all the comments hate the bag? I think it’s awful too. Looks like something from Claire’s
free focus group for them … lol
The bag looks like something that you can find at “clearance” section at Walmart! Big NO!
It’s a no
Ugly purse!
do the straps feel durable?
Great question! The leather is not very thick and more on the delicate side, the overall feel wasn’t very durable.
I cannot see the appeal in this bag, it looks tacky and cheap.
99 cents stores worthy
Chanel wannabe but poorly made. Looks cheap IMO
My first thought was this bag is in response to LV’s wave bag which is in response to Gucci’s Marmont bag which is in response to…
I love Gucci, but what were they thinking with this one?
wow. so fugly.
I kind of like this color combo, but the red/blue one is like 1970s Wonder Woman ‘The Bag’ – and NOT in a good way.
