Gucci‘s newly released Pre-Fall 2019 campaign images are ancient history in the best possible way. For this campaign, Alessandro Michele tapped into history, utilizing a Sicilian site which dates back to the 7th century BC. The Selinunte Archaeological Park was the background for the Pre-Fall 2019 Ad Campaign, creating an eye catching juxtaposition between the ancient ruins and Gucci’s contemporary collection.
The campaign, which was photographed by Glen Luchford, imagines a mythical place frozen in time. This place, encourages a certain freedom of expression, allowing people from all walks of life to coexist. In this modern-day interpretation of the ruins, lovers and friends come together to talk philosophy, participate in the arts, sing and dance together. View the entire campaign below.

I personally wouldn’t dress like the gents in the campaign, but I do appreciate how f’ing bonkers & wild the entire campaign is!
I have to agree. The campaign is different than what normally is seen, but if they did the same old, same old they wouldn’t get anywhere. Plus fashion house campaigns are a type of art and everyone has different aesthetics. Sometimes being quirky can pay off in the long run.
Dumb. Wild for the sake of being wild is not a campaign. It’s simply a mess.
OMG, what a mess. Not one thing appeals to me. Probably will be a huge hit.
Reminds me of a circus and I don’t see anything I care for. Wondering what demographic they’re shooting for with this.
Ridiculous. Messy. Tacky.
Just wow. Such a historical setting providing the opportunity to showcase a classic Gucci with a tasteful modern twist. Gucci’s hedonistic campaign.
Just nasty.
This is fabulous!
No, it’s not!
ok cool…no one asked you lol
Agreed! No one asked me, but if you post it’s a solicitation for comments. For instance, you commented on my comment and that’s how Purseblog works. Everyone responds to each other and hopefully we can all learn from one another.
You could’ve just posted your own freestanding comment about your distaste for the campaign just like everyone else here or REPLIED to someone you agreed with. You clearly have a problem with me liking the campaign (having a different opinion than you) hence why you replied.
Why would I “clearly have a problem with you liking the campaign”. That’s just silly! Don’t get it twisted, it’s not important or problematic for me if you or anyone likes or dislikes it. Do your thing, girl!
I like Gucci, but they went too far. This campaign is what nightmares are made of! It’s just too much!
If Gucci’s campaign is meant to repulse people and make them look away they succeeded.
How outlandish! Maybe too outlandish I see… lol. Idk if the black face scandal didn’t slow them down, this won’t either.
Was this shot by Martin Parr?
In all seriousness, Gucci is definitely not interested in my money.
Those awful beige lace stockings look exactly like my leg did after having the cast removed and I don’t ever want to see that again! But I do enjoy Gucci’s wacky ad campaigns.
This is purely editorial, not meant for you to wear all the pieces together. Pick the loafers for example, a really great shoe, and wear them your way.
Hot mess.
I have always loved Gucci, but since Alessandro Michele came around, it’s not a sexy brand anymore. It’s very quirky, shocking to look at, even though there are some amazing pieces that you have to wear in your own way. The advertising is just meant to make a statement….but this is what they have been doing for the past couple of years….I wish they would bring back a little more sophistication.
Tacky Hideous Disgusting Obnoxious Repulsive, I could go on and on NO CLASS Gross!
This campaign by Gucci is wrong in so many ways. It’s a marketing disaster time to find a new creative director. The clothes are flamboyant and tacky. The other issue is the models these kids are bone racks. I am not sure who they think buys their product but this will not appeal to shoppers. Time to rethink approach and who will be buying the product. Total disaster!
This campaign is terrible! The outfits are hideous and the images look like something I saw from students when I was in art school. I normally love Gucci, but this is not the Gucci I love.
A tacky mess. You look once, then you look away.
This feels like shots from Thrift Shop by Macklemore, but super expensive for some reason. I can find all the kitchy old stuff I want for “twenty dollars in my pocket” if I go to the thrift shop ?
Honestly, this campaign is so ugly I am thinking of returning the bag and shoes I just bought. Just when Gucci was coming back up from the ashes.
This looks like a nightmare about what hell would look like… I hate everything, the people including their attitude and the clothes. Yuck!
Wierd and disturbing. Gucci is not on my radar anymore. I won’t support this brand with my dollars.
I guess some haters don’t understand meaning of ‘Classical Symposium’ should not talk about art or design. Clearly those haters don’t have any ideas what’s behind those campaign.
And I bet those haters never appreciate some contemporary art if one of them ever visit at Art Galleries. Lol
