Back in October, Matthew Williams made his runway debut for Givenchy, and right away it was incredibly apparent that there was a brand new Givenchy in town. Unafraid of change and willing to push the envelope, Williams debuted a line that was vastly different from what had come before. Introduced was a collection that exuded power, elegance and an edge at the same time. Williams chose to branch out and embrace change while also revamping Givenchy’s DNA.

One of the standout pieces from William’s spring collection for Givenchy and a big push for the brand moving forwards is the Givenchy Cut Out Bag. Refreshingly unique in shape and silhouette, the bag oozes an incredibly cool vibe and is recognizable without any overtly in-your-face logos. Featuring a shoulder strap with a logo chain detailing, the Cut Out bag is available in an array of colors and varying materials as well as two sizes – small and large.
Many of you expressed a disappointment with the collection, when it was first released last fall, but when we spotted the Cut Out on Bella Hadid earlier this month, it seemed that some of your opinions towards #NewGivenchy had softened. While the Cut Out Bag is cool and undeniably different, its uniqueness is what makes the silhouette stand out, and this bag is liable to elicit one of two opinions: love or hate.
So tell us in the comments below? Do you love this bag or would you rather leave it?
The chain makes the bag.
It does. Although I’d be tempted to detach the chain and wear it as a chunky necklace…
Givenchy has always beautifully mixed classic and edgy. I am one of the people who did not like Matthew Williams’s debut collection but I am digging this bag! This is based on photos as I have not yet seen it in person.
I actually don’t mind it – it’s like an edgier version of the Gucci Jackie.
Looks like someone decided to karate chop the bag the way they do to pillows in all those home decor shows. Not a fan.
Very interesting! I like it a lot. Unique without looking kitschy. I think the shorter chain strap suits it more than the long one.
Side note: I don’t care if Bella Hadid has it. Frankly I don’t care what walking billboards have or do…
Reminds me of the Mlouye flex bag but without the flexibility
I don’t love OR hate this one, lol!
I do appreciate that it’s different, yet smooth/lean enough for my taste (even if I might like busier bags sometimes, it’s always from far, far away, I never manage to like busy bags on myself). My collection is kept purposefully small so I don’t need another shoulder/crossbody, but if I did, this would definitely be on my radar. No big love, but a good offering certainly.
Matthew Williams still has a job? Good for him.
It’s interesting.
I don’t mind the shape of the bag but I can’t see how it could be functional for the average person…
It’s liable not libel.
Maybe they meant to write libel “a published false statement that is damaging to a person’s reputation”. ? My brain doesn’t typically catch these errors since it self corrects the wrong word into the right word. Good catch, though!
I am team Givenchy Nightingale and Antigona and some other I dont remember names anymore from 10y ago
lol Pandora? I love my Pandoras!
I second that!
I appreciate the effort to make something new and interesting but it looks like something you’d wear once and then forget you have. It’s giving me early 2000’s cool girl vibes which isn’t bad, but I’m not sure it’s good either. It would probably look better in an embossed pattern like croc.
I’ve seen it in croc – awful. The clean texture of the smooth calf is what makes the bag graphic and standout to me. Yes, it’s like a mini bag in terms of usable space. What does concern me is the open bucket functionality of it – no safe closure. I feel like I would need to drape my scarf on the top all the time to feel safe walking down a busy city sidewalk.

It looks like a trend bag to me. I wonder how practical it is too – how much does it hold, is it easy to get in and out of, etc.
Definitely catches the eye! Modern and fresh to me. Love some of the design elements like the wide portion of the leather strap at the top so it does not cut into your shoulders. The short chain strap adds the pretty element and is nice to have when you don’t want to wear the bag on your shoulders. And the understated branding. It is reminiscent of the Mlouye design but this bag just looks more luxurious to me. Wish there were photos of the interior.
Bulky without capacity hmmmmm
I think you need a great outfit to match the bag and these models outfits really dont make the bag work. Bella’s outfit in the link is more suiting to this. I feel its more “corporate” meets “edgy” look and not “clubbing” meets “menswear” as the model photos show. *shrugs* I dont think it would be practical by the shape though.
Love it
i dont like any of the bags, i recently purchased a preloved soft antigona in medium, but other than that, these bags are a no for me, the chunky clunky hardware is still a no, and the cut out of the bags are weird.. maybe “trendy” instagram worth pic and that all, im gonna do a hard pass on these.
