We’ve brought you bountiful gift guides to help you shop for every single person and situation this holiday season, and I wanted to finish up by asking some of my favorite fashion insiders what’s on their wish lists this year. I spoke with style stars like Nicky Hilton, Rebecca Minkoff and Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, I found out not only what was on each of their wish lists but also what handbag they’re lusting after this moment.

Interesting. I like how they all really vary.

I love reading everyone’s very sweet Christmas tradition stories..very cool to see what other families do!

Am I the only one who feels it’s disingenuous when designers “lust” after their own goods? I see it as a cheap and transparent opportunity to self-advertise.

To Hilfiger and Minkoff: If you can’t easily access goods from your own current catalog, it sounds like you’re running your companies disastrously and have no clout in the fashion industry.

So please just be honest. Nicki Minaj said it best when she rapped: “Couldn’t get Michael Kors if you was f’in Michael Kors.” If you’re Rebecca Minkoff and have to lust after Rebecca Minkoff, what do you think that says about you?

If I were a handbag designer, I would want to make bags that I absolutely loved and wanted to carry – not just because they were mine but because the bag itself is something that speaks to me. I see what you’re saying but I also think it would be weird to design bags and then say, ‘I’ve got my eye on designer Y’s bag though’, ya know?

I don’t normally defend Rebecca Minkoff or Hilfiger but here we go…

Look at it this way…If you design a product; be it a bag or piece of clothing and go on the record to promote another brand.. how does that make you look? Shouldn’t you be confident enough in your designs to want to select them yourself? Yes, it can look like a plot to self-advertise. But if I don’t see a designer recommend their own product it can also make me wonder whether or not they believe in the items they produce. If they’re not going to where it why should I?

Also, all designers promoted their pieces along with other brands..

Thank you to Khirma Eliazov for the bracelet idea. I ordered a leather one for my BF as soon as I read about it here. It’s really a great gift that gives back to the community.
