The Many Bags of Fendi’s Resort 2020 Collection

The Baguette is here to stay...

It’s no secret that Fendi is having a serious moment, and the resurgence in Fendi’s popularity could very well be attributed to the creative direction provided by the late Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld held the reigns at Fendi for over 50 years, and the mark that he left on the brand cannot be ignored.

Fendi re-released the Baguette Bag earlier this year, and it seems that the Baguette isn’t leaving us anytime soon. For Resort 2020, the Baguette is shown in embossed logo leather as well as updated versions in lush, colorful exotics. Exotics were also at play on Fendi classics such as the Mini Peekaboo and the Peekaboo x-Lite. With Silvia Venturini Fendi’s solo debut, this collection also featured some new handbag designs as well as the use of a new, but old, logo: the FF Karligraphy. Though logos were at play here, the use of them throughout the collection was toned down a bit. Notable new design mentions include a large, top-handle tote as well as a top handle bucket bag with a long chain closure. View all of the bags below.

Hmm, I can’t even look at the bags because i am so distracted by that new/old Fendi logo. Why would you change what is arguably the best logo in the business back to that weird “Z” logo for the new bag styles? I just don’t get it. My favorite weekend bag is a Fendi and I love it so much, so I am going to pretend I didn’t see this collection for now. I’ll check back when the logo sitch is fixed. 🙂

The coat in 24. The bags in 26, 29 and especially 34!

There are some bags in this collection I like it.

I prefer the smaller, more subtle logo on the bigger bags. I’m not a fan of the fancy calligraphy style FF on the smaller bags. However, the pants in #27 made me laugh out loud. Seriously, no one is going to wear their pants below and underneath their shoes. Or, even modify their pants to resemble anything close to these.

I really like the patent Peek-a-Boo in picture 39. Not a bucket bag person, but I like these. I am digging the cursive Fs.

As far as the baguette goes, I don’t like this new, modern version. I’ve seen them in person, and it’s a no. Something about it (and I can’t put my finger on it) just is not appealing to me. To be honest, I’m thinking that it’s the top handle strap.

Love the bag shown in 7 and 29! And of course the peek-a-boos.

Master Green

I’m bored.

I like the new cursive logo, but the bags themselves are a major yawn.

Oh, there were bags featured in this article? I didn’t even notice because I was too busy dying over the AMAZING clothes! The blue leather coat in #15 and the outfit in #34 are sublime! And I can’t get over how beautiful the boots are in #21.

Me too! Coats/jackets especially — please send me the ones shown in photos 4, 5, 18, 21 — and the pants (is it a suit? will take both pieces) in 17. The bags looked very well constructed but not wow-worthy. I’m intrigued by the totes, would like to see them in the store. I could see myself with the bags in photos 22 and 25.

It really irks me how the designers don’t know or don’t care what consumers want. That new cursive FF logo is ugly and a terrible idea. Consumers are not going to spend thousands of dollars so that they look like they’re carrying a Target bag. Ugh

The cursive F is cute. Although I’m sure Gen Z kids can’t read it since they apparently aren’t taught cursive anymore lol

LOL! And so true

Fendi quality cannot be beat! They are the very best in my collection.

Is anyone else tired of chain straps?
