Fendi Collaborates With Visual Artist Joshua Vides for Pre-Fall 2020

Plus: a video exclusive of the California Sky collection, launching tomorrow

Capsule collections and collaborations are becoming more and more common for big design houses, and the latest must-see collab comes fresh from our friends over at Fendi. For Pre-Fall 2020, the Italian design house has collaborated with LA-based visual artist Joshua Vides to release an expansive collection of bags, shoes and more. Italian craftsmanship meets California cool in this new set of products, which launches tomorrow, June 24th.

The new collection, dubbed California Sky, was designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, through an exclusive partnership with Vides. This is not the first time the brand has collaborated with Vides, who is known among the contemporary art scene for his unique black and white sketch-style art. Last July, the brand launched a limited edition pop-up and ‘Peekaboo Bar’ in Harrods London with the artist.

For this collection Venturini worked alongside Vides, who used his trademark black and white color palette paired with his instantly recognizable marker style, to give Fendi’s fan favorite bags a cartoonish makeover. Sky blue and light violet touches finish off the collection, which features a range of cool 3D like effects that trace the edges and seams of bags such as the Peekaboo, Baguette and By the Way bag.

Additionally, Vides drew on his expertise to create a playful floral motif as well as a reinterpretation of the iconic Fendi FF logo. While at first a collaboration with a visual artist known for his work within the streetwear sector of the industry may seem out of place, the partnership works tremendously well. The collection perfectly marries Fendi’s icons with Vides’ artsy attitude, offering unique, graphic spins on Fendi staples. In addition to bags, the California Sky products also include edgy RTW, shoes and accessories. Bag prices range from $750 to $5,300. Take a look at more from the collection below, which you can shop via Fendi, starting tomorrow, June 24th.
