When it comes to handbags, a distinct group of luxury designers tends to take up a majority of the market, remaining top of mind for collectors. That being said, the market is actually rather expansive, and those looking for a well-made luxury bag that’s a bit more under the radar have options. One of those options is the Milan-based brand Etro. As part of its recent overhaul under the new creative direction of Marco De Vincenzo, Etro launched the Vela bag earlier this Spring.
A Foray Into Leather Goods
The Vela marks not only the first bag for Marco De Vincenzo, but a new chapter for the House of Etro. Defined by its sleek silhouette, which draws inspiration from the nautical world, the Vela’s lines are said to mimic how a sailboat cuts through the wind. At first glance, the bag’s shape felt fresh and different from anything else on the market. Instantly, we were intrigued, and many of you felt the same.
The Etro Vela Gets a Mini-Makeover
Further defining the sleek, refined silhouette of the Vela bag, Etro now introduces the Mini Vela. The perfect minimalist design for the mini-bag lover, this shrunken-down little lady offers an elegant yet youthful feel. Like the original, the Mini Vela is constructed of soft, smooth leather with a flexible V-shaped closure. Introduced in an array of fun pop hues like pink, orange, lime, and sky blue, the candy-inspired tones are a nice juxtaposition to the bag’s clean lines. The bold colors sit alongside everyday neutrals like black and brown.
The Vela Mini bag is finished with a logo-engraved medallion and a hanging chain detail. Overall dimensions are 8.26″ x 6.29″ x 3.54″, and the Mini Vela retails for $1,990 via Etro.
