Dior’s Newest Bags Celebrate Chinese New Year

The House's iconic floral gets a vibrant makeover

For Dior Cruise 2019 Maria Grazia Chiuri reintroduced the toile de Jouy print. This iconic motif was first used by Christian Dior himself dating back to as early as 1947. And now, for a special Chinese New Year collection, this motif has been reimagined in a beautiful red floral which features blooming hydrangeas. Hydrangeas are associated with grace, gratitude and prosperity, which go hand in hand with Chinese culture. Additionally, red is a color of importance to Chinese culture, said to symbolize good fortune and joy.

Dior’s launch comes on the heels of many major fashion houses also releasing special capsule collections in celebration of Chinese New Year. Though many brands have chosen to honor the Year of the Pig a bit more literally, Dior’s capsule collection takes a different direction with its incredibly feminine designs. Those are gorgeoooooous. Where is my heart-eye emoji?

This made me chuckle, but I completely agree. Of all the collections I’ve seen so far celebrating Chinese New Year this one spoke to me the most and was the one I was most inclined to cover. I’m swooning over the Book Tote!

WOW I love everything!

My favorite is the silk bandeau

The only time fashion houses ever celebrate Asian culture is when they want to make money off of us especially the Chinese market lol most of the time they say we’re uncultured little people who only have money but no class as a way of demeaning us. But that’s another issue ? Anyway, this is the only Chinese New Year collection that I like that doesn’t look tacky for once ? Maria could actually make some decent decisions sometimes once in a blue moon ?

D&G!

I’d like the sneakers please – they are gorgeous ?

Beautiful…any clues on prices? Love the Lady Dior bag although I do wish it had red handles instead of white. For Asian influenced premium designer bags, I still prefer my Gucci Tian Boston Supreme as it’s more wearable year-round and less delicate, but this is a lovely collection.

I passed on the Gucci Tien boston bag and am still looking for one!

These are all beautiful but was thinking nothing to do with Chinese New Year, too. More Chinoiserie than anything.

I wish I could buy every piece from this, except the large tote. Def. the best collection for the Chinese New Year I’ve seen.

Oh my! All so pretty but I particularly love the pattern in the Lady Dior. I’ve wanted that bag in my collection for quite a while…now may be the time.

Elegance and finesse in a collection. Finally! Theres a whole lot to love here for me. The Diorama clutch and the knitted sweater -swoon.

I’ll take the scarf, the clutch or “Lady Diana”
bag, & the mohair sweater….please! ???
Everything is so quaint & feminine.

Grumbling about how much I hate the latest incarnation of Dior has become a habit for me, but … I kind of love this.

Unfortunately, the only items from this collection available to the U.S. market are the Lady bag, the Diorama clutch, the sneakers and the bracelet. There is also a small card case, which is not pictured. Frustrating! Love the Book Tote!
