Everyone in Hollywood is Currently Pregnant; Here are Their Handbags

This will not shock you: pregnant stars do not mess around with micro bags. We didn’t set out to do a maternity edition of our usual celeb bag round-up, it just sort of happened accidentally; you could call it…unplanned. Some of these celebs are just barely baby bumpin’, and some are heavily, alarmingly pregnant. A couple of these stars have existed in a near-constant state of pregnancy for 3-5 years now. All are carrying pretty great bags. If you’ve never given a lot of thought to maternity fashion, you should definitely have a few ideas on the subject locked down after this post.

Remember maxi dresses? Remember the Soft Lockit? This photo was not taken last June! In Southern California, you can still bust maxi dresses out of your closet in mid-December. But Zoe Saldana needs that sort of reliable cotton comfort now more than ever, because she is pregnant with twin boys.

Here’s Vanessa Lachey, making her first of two appearances in this week’s post, rocking a highly tailored maternity ensemble. Like Zoe, she’s opting for a bag with volume to offset the size of her bump. (I hate the word “bump,” but I hate the words “belly” and “tummy” even more.)

Rachel Bilson certainly has the smallest bag of any of our preggers celebs this week. I’d say this makes sense, because she’s a petite shorty, but we actually have plenty of photographic evidence that her handbag collection is overrun with oversized bags. It’s not illegal for a pregnant woman to carry a small bag, of course, it just seems to buck this week’s maternity trend.

Here’s Aussie model Nicole Trunfio in NYC, who hardly even looks pregnant from this angle, but is in fact seven months along. She’s got her own purple Givenchy Antigona, which is fast becoming the designer handbag of choice for the expectant celebs this week.

Were you aware that Prada makes bonafide baby bags? They do, and while this bag looks a lot more child-proof than most other Prada handbags combined, it has less style than the other celeb picks.

Blake Lively
Celine Luggage Tote

Blake was recently spotted carrying her “Small” Celine Luggage Tote as she left The Bowery Hotel in NYC with her hubs Ryan Reynolds. This smaller version of the Luggage Tote was actually discontinued a couple years ago, so Blake has probably had this one for a while. You’ll notice she’s wearing a long pendant necklace, just like Vanessa Lachey. I’m honestly not sure if this trick is meant to distract from the bump, or draw attention to it.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by your surplus of celeb knowledge? I do. For example: I already knew that Ali Larter was pregnant. …you get something like this. Now, this is not a bad photo of Vanessa Lachey by any means. It’s actually pretty glamorous, and really sexy in a way that makes me slightly uncomfortable. But Vanessa looks about 3 months more pregnant here than she did in the last photo. In fact, I have a very real fear that her water broke seconds later. (I checked, it didn’t, but she could still pop at any minute.)
