When Karl Lagerfeld passed away earlier this year, he not only left behind a legacy, but he left behind big shoes to fill. Virginie Virard has taken to the reigns incredibly well, and as Artistic Director of fashion collections she has continued the story of Coco Chanel. Typical of cruise collections, the Cruise 19/20 bags represent a spirit of movement and travel. The bags stand well on their own, but many of the bags are modern interpretations of house classics.
The new Chanel 19 Bag appears in this collection, featuring large, exaggerated quilting, which is a spin on an iconic house code. There were many classic flap bags too, and versions included color-blocked patent leather and acid-washed, faded, colored denim. A classic Chanel shape, the Vanity Case, also appeared multiple times throughout the collection in various sizes and materials. Chanel’s Cruise Collection hits stores November 15th, but you can get a sneak peek via the link below, and check out our favorite bags from the collection now.

i can’t believe I am about to write this, but these are pretty okay. I usually can’t stand the Chanel posts as the bags always look the same to me. But these are showing some real style and while they still look like Chanel bags, they look so much more modern.
These latest Chanel collections do not compel me to purchase. They lack creativity and are boring. It’s getting easier and easier to walk away from this design house.
I like the two-tone hardware. The caged shopper is really cool. As much as I like the fabrication of the green backpack, the thought of spending that much on denim makes me nauseous.
#4 and #6 look gorgeous. #17 looks like a cheap knockoff.
The only one I like is the blue large flap (38), but *minus* that short chunky top strap.
If only it had less other stuff
Cute, kitschy, redundant, silly, scream cheap quality NOT luxury. Chanel’s trajectory just isn’t looking good (I am representing the sentiment of a whole bunch of my collector friends here too. We are all pretty bummed & looking elsewhere continue our fun obsessive collecting.)
I want to meet someone who is considering buying the flash bag. Just want to say Why?
It’s not me) They are made to be a collector’s items.
Why to the Flask and the Evening Bag for $19,000! (I thought it was a typo, but No!).
Why to the Flask and the Evening Bag for $19,000! (I thought it was a typo, but No!).
Yucky! I think Chanel bags design is getting tackier and tackier. Honestly, I can appreciate a variety of fabrics and colors, but I would not wear any of these bags in public as they lack class. It seems like Chanel is trying to appeal to younger audiences, but why?!
Because they are trendy and most young folks are followers!
Bravo Chanel. A Swell bottle for $5K
I like the camera case and the vanity bags…I still love Chanel. Not every bag is going to appeal to everyone.
I have to say that anything made from fabric that costs thousands is just a rip off.
The large flap in navy was pretty, as was the aqua small flap..but the circular handle adds nothing to the design and the large chain with the small chain on the navy flap is also too much. They’re trying too hard to add new, “look how current we are!” elements to standards and it looks redundant. And the prices are obscene.
Yes, the longevity of the materials concern me. Besides the textiles (denim linen and knit?), won’t also the colored chain links (enamel?) wear off with friction against the other links?
Why are their bags so gaudy these days? Most of these are awful!
trying to keep up with LV and their trashy designs
Each Chanel collection gets progressively overpriced and overrated.
I love large quilted flap bags! And her sky blue costume too)

I find that Chanel does a good job keeping its seasonal bags somewhat classic. Number 13 is gorgeous! There are a lot of people who vowed to never buy Chanel again because of continued price increases and alleged quality issues, but I still love their bags!
