At the end of every year Chanel lovers are given one last little treat in the form of a stunning artisanal collection. Last year was no different, and now Chanel’s Métiers d’Art 2021 collection has finally hit boutiques and we’ve got the scoop. Métiers d’Art literally translates to ‘art professions’ and with this collection Virginie Viard chose to celebrate the skills and expertise associated with French craftsmanship and the artisans who perfect it. The presentation was held in December at the Château de Chenonceau, which was said to be evocative of Coco Chanel’s home located in the South of France.
The silhouettes presented are stunning, but wearable works of art. There are velvet flap bags, mini bags and more. Every style is dressed in intricate details, whether it be pearls, chains, crystals, or a combination of the three, the pieces have no shortage of luxe. Beginning this month the collection is available in Chanel Boutiques worldwide and below we’re taking a look at some of our favorite pieces from the collection.
Yikes! I love Chanel but what is sampled above is not great! I guess you cannot be wonderful all the time.
Agreed. I don’t like these over-embellished bags. Why would one spend so much on a bag that will be used so infrequently?
I’m glad to see these. It’s a reminder that Chanel continues to make bags that are overpriced & of inferior quality.
AHAHHAHAH
Totally agree.
#8 really captured my heart.
Chanel keeps making the same bag over and over.
LOVE 1-5.
$2500 for a card holder…? Ouch.
Too expensive.
Not really special to warrant exorbitant prices.
Price upon request = if you have to ask $$$$$ lol
I’m loving the intricate beading on these bags and the embroidered velvet. Gorgeous.
I respectfully disagree. If you are talking about a Chanel bag that you’d want to purchase as your first, these are seasonal selections. The Métiers D’Art collection is about celebrating the exquisite craft and workmanship that comes from the ateliers like Lesage, Montex, et al (now housed in Chanel’s 19M) and the artisans ateliers that bring to life the design that we all love. It is about the savoir-faire. So you would purchase a bag from one of these collections not because you do love the exquisite detail-for example the second to last is one I think is absolutely beautiful. I also like the mini 2.55 from this collection. It’s not something I would decide to splurge on given my current spending limit for luxury bags. But is does come down to personal style and taste. There are a lot of factors in the cost, but if you compare the cost with any of the evening bags in the other collections, it is comparable. I loved the bags from the FW 21-22 collection more, however. I think the collection and bags were stunning. The new 2022 Métiers D’Art collection(that took place on the 9th) however, is one of the most beautiful, and it speaks to me on a different level. The bags are equally as exquisite, so that is one to look forward to…but there is also SS ’22, and I think the selection is superb.
