Late last year, Chanel presented it’s 2019 Métiers d’Art collection at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Métiers d’Art collection takes the place of pre-fall for the brand, and they are arguably one of the best displays of the details and craftsmanship that go into Chanel’s bags and accessories. These collections often feature many special details, exotic leathers and elevated iterations of popular designs. This collection was inspired by ancient Egypt, and the late Karl Lagerfeld designed this collection using a mostly neutral palette with elaborate detailing. I am obviously in the minority judging the previous comments, but I think this is the worst Chanel collection for a very, very long time. I find it quite tacky and for the first time during my and Chanel’s love story I can’t find a single piece that I would want to own.

I don’t understand all of the “love”, either. I don’t think it’s the “worst Chanel collection”, but it is pretty bad. All of the gold makes it look tacky and I agree that “I can’t find a single piece that I want to own”, either.

BEST collection Chanel has had in a very long time. To those not liking it (which of course you might not) there are a ton of designs not featured here that are amazing. The ones here I don’t actually like all that much.
For those lusting after this collection help me understand what is aesthetically appealing about these bags? I’m not being judgmental, but serious and inquisitive. I love Chanel and own several, but this has me stumped. (I’m not interested in a debate or to provoke someone’s anger, I’m just naturally curious). 🙂
Have you actually researched the collection? The metallic coco handles are beyond amazing in gold, bronze, peacock blue, green and pewter. The graffiti reissues with the holographic color change and brushed gold hardware are edgy and to die for (I love the pink and black). The mini reissues come in so many colors, and are priced incredibly well (beige, red, black, green), several art pieces in stunning colors with ornamental detail (blues, purples). Probably 12 different colors of coco handles, as popular as they are, are super exciting for those who’ve been waiting for such a selection. The glitter calf WOC’s and belt bags in iridescent green and blue are stunning. Just a start, much more. Hope that helps. Not a big fan of those above (other than the striped pyramid), but this isn’t representative at all of the collection IMO.

Really you should. I was getting pretty stale on Chanel the last couple of seasons (which I never thought possible – but with the declining quality and lack of innovative or fun designs) and this collection roped me back in. Whether that is bad or good, who knows 😉

I don’t know..that Pyramid bag looks cheap AF..and gold leather is always a risk, it usually looks tacky.

The 2.55 looks like a Canal St. special..the diamonds are crooked along the gold section and the bag doesn’t sit properly..you can see the bottom. I wouldn’t even want this as a gift!
The prices are too high…no way I’d pay that much for this quality. Even Chanel cuts corners these days and it shows.
Oh, but Chanel does gold leather so well. I love their gold leather bags and for some reason, the gold leather wears so well.

Yes, right after I saw the pictures, I immediately went onto Chanel’s website and looked at clothes, accessories, and shoes for this collection.Yes, the bag is the same!? Honestly the pyramid bag won because of its shape, and I do hope once I have had time to sit down and think about it, that I can add it to my collection. ????
