Earlier this year, when the world was just beginning to fully re-open, Daniel Lee and Bottega Veneta hosted a secret event at a nightclub in Berlin. Much like the brand’s now-illusive happenings, what was seen inside the venue remained a mystery until earlier this month when Bottega Veneta revealed what actually went on. The presentation was a full-on runway show showcasing the brand’s Salon 02 collection, otherwise known as Fall 2021.
What the collection represented as a whole wasn’t all that different from Wardrobe 02, which focused on maximalism and truly brought back the joy in dressing up from head-to-toe. With Salon 02, the what’s more, is more theme continues, with show-stopping sequins making way for head-to-toe animal print, feathers, and beyond.
As for the bags, they are equally funky and fun, though, at the core, they still possess everything Bottega Veneta stands for. Iconic Intrecciato weave oozes expert craftsmanship and an ode to the brand’s history, while new bags play with fresh textures like fringe and knotting. The Clip bag appears in a black and white zebra stripe, which can be worn with a matching coat and shoes, alongside oversized totes, hand-carried intrecciato clutches and more. I will say I’m not the biggest fan, but I like this version of Maximalism much more than Gucci’s version. Gucci was just throwing random things onto its bags and saying “it’s an iconic code of the house”, this seems at the very least a little bit more classic.
The next time I am at the fair I am going to ask the clown to make me a balloon bag! How much do you think this pair of rubber shoes will cost? I do like the leather coat.
The “balloon” bag is huge & so impractical. I would probably fall in trying to reach something in the bottom. 😳
Especially at the prices for Bottega-I would rather get(which I did) one of the gorgeous new Fendi bags in the FW’21 collection(I got the Fendi First) On the higher end, I’d rather save up and get another Chanel bag. I do like some of the Pre-Fall styles, but these I really don’t care for. Way too impractical for sure!
I have come to realize that I’m not a Bottega fan. I don’t like the old or new versions of the design house’s bags.
The clothes are a different story. They are my style, and the zebra coat is calling my name loud and clear.
