Moda Operandi gives us a peek at more of Alexander Wang’s Fall 2012 handbags!

When I posted about the Alexander Wang Fall 2012 runway bags a few days ago, some of you seemed concerned that Wang was going too grown-up and leaving his young, hip downtown girls behind, at least when it comes to accessories. I promised you then that you shouldn’t fret, and now I have proof by way of the Moda Operandi Alexander Wang Fall 2012 accessories pre-sale.

If you’re getting tired of the Rocco, Wang has a slight reboot ready in the Alexander Wang Rockie Bag. The weekenders and clutches that dominated the runway will be known as the Pelican line, and the best of the bunch is one we’re just seeing for the first time – the quilted Alexander Wang Pelican Satchel, above, which retails for just under a grand. There are also new versions of old favorites like the Emile Tote and the Marion Shoulder Bag. Check out all the bags from the presale after the jump, or get to ordering at Moda Operandi.

Rebecca Minkoff rocked the runway for Fall 2012

True to her brand’s aesthetic and identity, Rebecca Minkoff made sure every attendee of her fashion show not only had the opportunity to see her Fall 2012 collection but also made sure they got to rock out while the show took place. The talented and highly energetic Theophilus London performed while models strutted down the runway wearing Rebecca’s upcoming looks. The entire show had more of a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show feel than a demure and stuffy catwalk feel, which was greatly appreciated.

As for the clothing, we saw glimpses of multicolored sequins and lots of dip-dying. The Rebecca Minkoff girl is contemporary, cool, and knows precisely what she wants. Her personal style matches her easy-going but super cool lifestyle, and this is precisely the Rebecca Minkoff I have come to know and love. In fact, I would be thrilled to wear every piece of this collection and I most certainly plan to.

Most importantly, let me get to the bags. The handbags did not stray from Rebecca Minkoff’s usual offerings, instead we saw updated versions of the coveted Morning After Bag among others. Of course, there will be plenty of new bags but these we will see upon closer inspection once we visit the showroom.

Pre-order two of the Proenza Schouler Fall 2012 runway bags from ProenzaSchouler.com!

It’s become a seasonal tradition; immediately following the livestream of the Proenza Schouler show, the brand puts a couple of bags from the collection on its website for immediately pre-order. Sometimes they’re runway bags and sometimes they’re not, but for Proenza Schouler Fall 2012, they’re versions of the most eye-catching accessories from the show. And they’re furry.

The Proenza Schouler Akira Satchel and Proenza Schouler Large Chieko Clutch are both leather-backed bags covered in natural deer hides, the use of which represents something of a first for Proenza. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I can’t recall the brand making fur accessories in the past. As is delightfully typical, though, Jack and Lazaro have chosen to take the fur trend in a different direction than all of the designers who use fox, rabbit or Mongolian lamb. Check out the clutch after the jump, or pre-order them via Proenza Schouler for $4595 and $1215, respectively.

Fashion Week Handbags: 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2012

Images via Vogue.com

In a season where several major American accessories designers have opted to go with straight-up whimsy and humor, 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2012 took a much more intellectual approach. Building on the widespread critical success of his 31 Hour, Minute and Second bags from Spring 2012, fall’s runway collection marked a continued exploration of handbag structure and the ways that modern women interact with their accessories. Most of the larger clutches revealed small cosmetic bags inside, and the portfolio bags sported smaller exterior attached pouches.

The runway didn’t yield many must-haves, but for a designer like Lim, it usually doesn’t. The accessories magic comes when these ideas are then married with the commercial wisdom that creates great handbags, and I have every faith in him that in a few months, we’ll see just that. After all, that’s how the 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Hour Bag came about, and everyone’s in love with it. Check out the rest of the bags from the show after the jump.

Ralph Lauren Accessories for Fall 2012

This morning Vlad and I attended the Ralph Lauren Fall 2012 Accessories preview at their Upper East Side boutique. Sometimes I forget the beauty that Ralph Lauren has to offer, but being there in person today reinvigorated me and reminded me precisely what it is this iconic brand is all about.

Very magical and elegant, Ralph Lauren’s upcoming fall collection is filled with exotic skins, furs and ladylike shapes. Extremely polished, the Ralph Lauren wearer is the well put-together woman who is confident and allows her accessories to make the outfit. Simply put, she is my kind of woman.

Fashion Week Handbags: Marc Jacobs Fall 2012

Images via Vogue.com

First and foremost, if you haven’t looked at the full Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 show already, I’d encourage you to head over to Vogue.com and flip through it now; I generally prefer spring fashion week to fall because the clothes are so much more fun, and Jacobs managed to inject a healthy dose of whimsy and wit into his collection via all manner of ridiculousness, most notably outsized fur hats. The entire collection looked like it would be right at home in a particularly fantastical Tim Burton movie.

By contrast, the collection’s handbags were almost jarringly sedate; in both glazed leather and ostrich, big, slouch satchels in white, mustard and dove grey created a staid counterpoint to the brocade, velvet and fur of the clothes. One bag, a ladylike frame satchel covered in red and black fur, stood out among the rest. If ever I were going to love a fur bag, it would be that one. Check out our gallery after the jump.

A very Chanel Valentine’s Day

Vlad and I took a moment out of Fashion Week madness to stop by one of our favorite cafes and get a delicious hot chocolate together for Valentine’s Day. The majority of our day was spent attending fashion shows with some talented designers, including Tory Burch and Oscar de la Renta, but we wanted to make sure to take a moment out of the madness for ourselves.

As much as I know that Valentine’s Day is blown out of proportion, I am a true romantic so I find myself a bit in love with this holiday. I’d like nothing more than to spend Valentine’s Day with my hubby and then be presented with a small arsenal of whimsical Chanel accessories. When it comes to the perfect Valentine’s day gift from the handbag world, I say opt for feminine and elegant, which is precisely what Chanel is known for.

Fashion Week Handbags: Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2012

Images via Vogue.com

Fashion can be divided into two groups: conceptual and literal. Conceptual pieces hint at their inspiration or theoretical underpinnings, while literal things just go right out and tell you where they came from and why they’re here. For the handbags of Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2012, things got very literal.

That’s neither praise nor a critique; as a descriptor, “literal” is value-neutral, and whether it’s good or bad depends entirely on the intent of the designer. With clutches in this line ranging from clocks to hearts to dominoes, I can say with confidence that von Furstenberg very much meant for us to chuckle a little bit when we saw what was in her models’ hands. Indeed, the cute little clutches were the star of the show, but I’m more interested in the richly textured burgundy bags, trimmed in fur and contrasting leather. Those are the kinds of pieces that get you through a long, hard winter, even if a little cloud clutch might be cute to see on the runway.

NYFW Handbag: Day 3

Today you will get photos of day 3 and day 4 of my handbag choices during New York Fashion Week. Even with ample planning, Fashion Week has a way to make everyone feel a little crazed and a lot behind on work.

Two days ago, the highlight of my evening was the Tibi Fall 2012 show. Tibi has become one of my favorite brands for oh so many reasons. Mainly because the clothes are amazing, but also I admire the brand so much and have profound respect for the team and creative director, Amy.

I was excited to wear my new Tibi Shift dress in bright blue. With it I paired my trusty Christian Louboutin pumps, a totally affordable BB Dakota Motorcycle jacket, and most importantly, my Chanel Reissue 227. As classic as it comes and entirely timeless, this bag is one of my favorite additions to my collection from last year.
