Matt & Nat Commix Studded Mini Bag

I like to throw a bone to my girls that don’t like animal products every now and then, and more and more, that bone is coming from Matt & Nat‘s handbag line. With a full range of bags that are all free from animal products, it gives shoppers with ethical concerns about leather an option that had long been missing.

That said, with handbags as adorable and on-trend as the Matt & Nat Commix Studded Mini Bag, you don’t have to have any negative thoughts about leather at all to appreciate what the brand has going on.

The 80s drawstring bag trend is back, as we all know, and studs and chains have been in for a while now. So has the crossbody/minibag shape. This bag is obviously not one that will stand the aesthetic test of time, but not all handbags have to. I wish it was a little less expensive since it’s not made of leather, but the fun pink mixed with the edgy hardware are still a winning combination for me. Pair it with a cocktail dress to instantly up your hipster quotient. Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $230.

I wish Matt & Nat bags were a little more durable. I had one that lasted a few weeks (at best) and then promptly fell apart midday. I would love to support their work but I don’t need any more disposable $300+ bags.

Throw a bone to people who don’t use animal products- hee, hee. This is cute but I wish there was a (p)leather weave in the chain or something. That looks painful.

Agree — chain looks dreadful. I have an early M Kors bag that has a bare chain handle and it was impossible to deal with.
