Love It or Leave It: Chloé’s Only Fall 2016 Runway Bag

There are a few standard approaches to runway bags that we usually see brands take. First (and least helpfully), there are brands that don’t include bags in their shows, even though they make them. They’re no fun. On the other end of the continuum, you have brands that arm every single model with a bag, and sometimes more than one–they’re our favorites, for obvious reasons. Most brands, including Chloé, find one of a couple available spots in the middle.

For Fall 2016, Chloé chose to showcase only one bag on its runway, and it’s a totally new design that nonetheless feels extremely Chloé. The brand has churned out a stream of very well-received saddle bags over the past few seasons, but they’ve all been pretty structured and a bit petite; for fall, the brand chose to go a larger, slightly slouchier route but stick with the saddle bag format that has worked so well with its French-boho aesthetic.

I like the bag, and I suspect that it will be a crowd-pleaser for functional reasons when it hits stores, but I don’t quite love it. The Drew, Faye and Hudson have all captured my attention because they’re so sharp and have impeccable details, while this bag is just…a nice bag. But hey, sometimes a nice bag is all you want. Let us know if it tickles your fancy in the comments.

love it! Looks very functional with both the shoulder and cross body straps. I just wish you post the inside of the bags as well.

Nikia

I actually quite like it, especially in suede.

Lori

It looks like a very smart bag. I love the suede. Any idea of cost?

Slata

the retail price is supposed to be between 1300 EUR and 1700 EUR, depending on size and material 🙂

Slide 3 is a beautiful bag. 🙂

LPS

The two-tone suede version is breathtaking

Sparkletastic

Meh. You pegged it. Nice bag. That’s it.

The bag is ok, I am disappointed by the lack of colors. Hopefully their other bags have a good seasonal color or two.

Katy ;P

I love the first one!!!

I wouldn’t buy it (not my taste), but I give Chloe a lot credit for doing a fresh take on a saddle bag and making it distinctively Chloe. Lately we’ve seen too much of designers over embellished an existing design then passing it off as “new”.

I don’t like the flap as it doesn’t line up with the main opening or the exterior pocket.

lavinia

I simply adore all of these bags!

Tinsley Proust

I don’t like the strap on the front. Reminds me of the Rebecca Minkoff Cupid bag for some reason?
I’ll pass. I love the Hudson bag they’ve done, however.

Kelchic

I like it! Does the black bag have a brown strap?

Finem Lauda

Leave it. These are very meh for me.

Maya

Leave it…boring or “not for me” to be fair:)

justa9url

Not a fan… especially of how the straps are placed.

Nor Kam

Love it looks practical

Irene

Beautiful and classic. Glad Chloe is creating like its old self again.

Hem… i don’t know. But maybe Chloe should reissue the ‘Paddington’ bag with a twist into it. But, I love the previous collections though.

Susan

I love it!
lt has classic written all over it. It somehow reminds me of the Delvaux Brilliant.
But why are the shoulder straps all tan???

I’m not really a “showy bag” kind of girl, but I love a great quality understated and functional piece. The Chloe Lexa is JUST the type of bag I love. It looks well made and sophisticated, but it doesn’t scream “I’m worth a ton of money”. For those reasons the Lexa was the very first four digit bag I’ve ever purchased. I love my Lexa more than anything else I own!
