When Matthew Rubinger launched the luxury accessories category at Heritage Auctions in 2010, the New York City resident was only just out of Vanderbilt University. During his tenure at Heritage as Director for Luxury Accessories, the pre-owned luxury handbag business has exploded both at live auctions and online, landing Rubinger on Forbes’ “30 Under 30″ list for 2014, as well as on CNN and The Wall Street Journal. Recently, he sat down with us to answer some questions about the luxury business, tracking down rare handbags and which dream piece he’s yet to track down. (more…)
When our friends at Net-A-Porter reached out to see if we loved Loewe bags as much as they do, I nearly jumped on my chair, Tom Cruise-style, to yell out “YES!” Loewe is a brand I’ve always loved even though it’s tricky to track down in the US, but that will all change. One of our favorite e-tailers will be carrying the coveted Spanish brand and I’m thrilled.
Starting today, Loewe bags will be available on Net-A-Porter. Including the highly sought-after Amazona and Flamenco, Loewe is a perfect fit on Net-A-Porter. The team decided to add the luxury brand to its site, and and they rave about the color and butter-soft quality of the leather goods. All I can say is, thank you Net-A-Porter for adding a lust-worthy brand to your designer list. Shop Loewe on Net-A-Porter now!
While some stores are offering discounts today for Cyber Monday, others are revamping their look and releasing new products online. Our friends at Salvatore Ferragamo took the kickoff of holiday shopping season to completely redesign their e-commerce site, which is much more user friendly and sleek.
Not only is the site completely made over, but it also features the brand new hobo style designed by Massimiliano Giornetti from the Resort 2013 collection. This colorway and style is exclusive to the relaunched Ferragamo.com, and we are here to share the news with you!
Let’s discuss the bag, shall we? Ferragamo exudes luxury and meticulous attention to detail. With ladylike designs and clean lines, it’s rare I run into a Ferragamo bag I don’t love. Hobos are one of the most sought-after handbag shapes for their ease of use and comfort, but many women don’t want to carry them because some tend to look sloppy.
The Salvatore Ferragamo Hobo is no where near sloppy – it exudes beauty in every single way. The shoulder strap is wide, which will slide onto your shoulder with ease and also remain comfortable. The body of the bag lured me in immediately, as its spacious and beautiful without being oversized and clunky. The interior features a zip pocket and cell phone holders, as well as suede lining. For this beautiful bag, the price is much less than one would expect – but don’t expect the design to suffer; Ferragamo’s known for their attention to detail. Visit the new e-commerce site and shop this bag for $995.
I don’t know if you’ve tried to buy a Chanel bag recently, but it can be downright difficult to find even something as basic as a black Chanel Classic Flap. Demand for the brand’s bags seems to be nearly endless, and seasonal styles and collection staples alike are here today, gone tomorrow. Not to mention the prices, which are perpetually rising. Don’t even get me started.
If you’re a Chanel lover and a RueLaLa member (or if you’d like to become one – we have a link for that), you’re in luck. In exactly three hours, at 11 a.m. EST, Madison Avenue Couture’s pre-owned and vintage Chanel wares will be available for purchase. In addition to a healthy selection of classic Chanel bags in neutrals and vibrant colors alike, RueLaLa and Madison Avenue Couture also have clothing and accessories from the French luxury giant for your perusal. We have your exclusive first look at some of our favorite bags from the sale after the jump, or you can sign up for RueLaLa and shop the sale starting at 11 a.m. (more…)
This is one of those exclusives that I both curse and welcome at the same time: We have the first look at the Hermes bags that will be available on Moda Operandi later tonight! The sale begins tonight at 7 pm EST, but you have one hour to drool over the goods and possibly plan a purchase before anyone else.
The partnership for this sale is between Heritage Auctions and Moda Operandi, which decided to offer an exclusive trunk show of many rare and one-of-a-kind Hermes Bags. One of the highlights of the collection is the rare 30cm Violet Porosus Crocodile Birkin, a notoriously hard-to-find color in an amazing shiny exotic skin. This post doesn’t need more text, because, hello, we have pictures of Hermes bags. Shop Moda Operandi’s Hermes sale starting at 7 pm EST! (more…)
Fashion’s most coveted site, Moda Operandi, will launch an exclusive trunk show tomorrow of the limited edition Roger Vivier Fall 2011 Couture Collection, dubbed Rendez-Vous. The first place you can see what will be offered is right here, thanks to our friends at Moda Operandi. The trunk show is made up of a small but entirely gorgeous collection of five shoe designs and seven bags. If you see anything you like, keep in mind that the collection has been produced in limited quantities and tomorrow will be the first time it is available for purchase online.
I’m going gaga for this collection, finding the pieces both demure and totally alluring. I would love both shoes shown here and the chain clutch would easily be the perfect addition to an evening outfit.
This is my favorite phase of our exclusive bag design collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff thus far, because in Phase III we get to see the brand new bag designs Rebecca and her team have developed! We have five options to choose from, and we took every single one of your votes into account to create what we think will be the ideal Rebecca Minkoff bag for her PurseForum Minkettes fanbase.
Time is running out to put your vote in before we move to the next and final stage! Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity and give us your vote!
Phase I of of PurseForum + Rebecca Minkoff Exclusive Bag Design Collaboration took the PurseForum readers and voters by storm. The overwhelming number of votes went to the coveted Satchel, which we all know Rebecca Minkoff designs amazingly. Phase II is well underway and this is the phase I have been most excited about.
Have you ever wanted to tell a designer EXACTLY what you want to see in a handbag? How you prefer adjustable straps or tech-friendly pockets or a zipper top? Now is your chance, and I am not sure anyone has been able to say this before. With the help of every reader, customer, and Rebecca Minkoff fan girl, the final bag design will take into account your direct feedback.
Time is running out for an unprecedented opportunity, one in which you can speak to a designer and tell her what you want to see. With your votes and direct input, the finished product may be exactly what you are looking for. How amazing is that?
You have no idea how excited I have been while sitting down with the Rebecca Minkoff team to come up with an opportunity that has never been seen before in the handbag world! We knew we wanted to collaborate on a bag design, but it was super important for us to include Rebecca’s very first fan base, the PurseForum Minkettes, in the process. We took it a step further from simply allowing the fans to be part of designing an existing bag, because the finished product will be a brand new shape and style. And since we are taking it back to the original fan base, we are also taking production back to a domestic factory. That means this bag will be made in the USA!!
There will be many phases of voting and you do not want to miss any of them. Your vote is going to help create a bag that will walk the Rebecca Minkoff runway show in February. What are you waiting for?! Vote in Phase I now!
