It’s not even unofficially fall yet, but still, winter is coming. If you focus on the winter handbags, that doesn’t seem like such an ominous promise, and thankfully, Dior is here today with its Winter 2016 handbag lookbook to remind us that cold weather isn’t all bad. After all, it brings with it new handbags to ogle.
Because this collection was one of the handful produced after Raf Simons’ departure and before Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri was named the label’s new creative director, it mostly holds the line on the brand’s bags, with lots of new versions of some of Dior’s favorites, including the Lady Dior, Diorever and Diorama, plus a couple new bags–most notably, the Lily. Check out all the pics below.
I (strongly) dislike the exposed handle attachments on the “Diorever”, “Blossom Bag” and “Blossom Shopper”. Those handle mounts makes the handles look unwieldy and liable to fall off, as well as serving as a visual distraction, taking away from the look of the bag in my opinion. The Dior “Runway” bag is disproportionate in its dimensions. The colors are muted and moody – most definitely a hallmark of Maria Grazia Chiuri, a designer who helped turn Valentino from a couturier who made glamorous, vibrant and feminine gowns and daywear into a dour wardrobe fit only for dowager Byzantine empresses deep in mourning.
As you can tell, I’m not a big fan of these bags. It makes one start to miss the histrionic, indulgent excesses of Galliano’s days at Dior. At least his designs possessed a bit of humor!
Maria Grazia had nothing to do with this collection, her debut collection will be spring 17 which will show in October. She was only appointed in july… These bags were created by the design team that remained after raf simons.
I’m not a fan of the Lily or the Runway but everything else looks classy and very Dior
Having a drawing of a Lady Dior on a Lady Dior is very meta, n’est pas? Is this the first example of French Existentialism on a purse? Hahaha
Dior is so gorgeous! It’s too bad I feel like they don’t suit me…Balenciaga or Chloe is just more my style ?
Love the Lily. The red on these bags are the perfect shade.
I like the Lily too!! It appears to hold a lot in a more compact style. I will be watching to see how it fares in the market.
I have zero complaints about this.
I really like the Lily but I wonder if it’s actually teeny tiny. The Blossom bag would make a great everyday tote. I like the embellishments of the other bags.
The Dior Blossom bag is equally as ugly and atrocious as the Dior Lilly Bag
who knew that was possible?
Quite a beautiful collection but i can’t pass the fact that everybag is a version of an already successful bag by another brand. Plus, there’s no cohesion with the logo. It’s a little bit too early 00’s. If you wants to do logos, do it in a more creative way.
So basically, the Dior Lilly Bag = Louis Vuitton Dora Bag
Love the shaded python Lady bag — far and away my favorite of the bunch. What size is it? Also like the self-referencing black & white Lady bag. The Blossom looks generic — could be anybody’s bag from LV to Prada to Michael Kors. The Runway bag doesn’t impress in photos, but IMO, comes across better when you see it in the stores. Not enough to make me want to buy it, but in the store, at least, it doesn’t have that Lady and the Wiener Dog vibe.
love the illustrated Lady Diors :7 and especially 8
any stitched on handles scream cheap, “we are cutting corners but we’ll do great marketing and you’ll buy it anyway for whatever price we set”. and that Lily is frugly. I feel sorry for such a great house as Dior.
anyone who like Aitbags wallet? the wallet is good and big
I just love Diorama bags – they can come to me in any colour – the easiest and best bag to use ever and so practical. I am glad to see them becoming part of their regular range (classic range) right now. Dior have such an elegant quality about them, I never tire of it
