When Chanel staged it’s Cruise 2017 show in Cuba, up-close shots of the collection’s bags and accessories weren’t readily available. I spent hours on Instagram and scouring other fashion sites to see what I could find and ended up with a good assortment of bags and the scene of the show. The Rainbow Chanel Boy Bag really stood out, but the collection included plenty of other bags that paid homage to the aesthetic culture of Cuba as well.
Today, we have a closer look at some of the bags that I shared in the first post, along with others that will be released as part of the Chanel Cuba Cruise 2017 collection. Khaki plays a big part in the offerings, with casual backpacks and classic shoulder bags both being finished in khaki fabric. There is also a heavy focus on sequins, which dresses up the casual khaki and is used in a way I wouldn’t have expected to like so much. The good news is if you’re looking for something from a Cruise 2017 collection that isn’t bright or pastel, this collection has something for you. And even if you are, there are some beautiful multicolor woven bags that I’m certain are masterpieces if you see them in store.
I LOVE the two green khaki flap bags. I think they’re really edgy statement pieces. It’s like mixing the epitome of Chanel luxury with the austerity and and grittiness of Cuba. Really cool and mentally stimulating.

Love the colours, fabrics and textures; so much creativity in this collection. I’m not worried about the affordability or seasonal lifespan since I can’t afford them anyway – I just enjoy Chanel like art!

I wish I could be rich just enough to be able to buy impractical seasonal Chanel bags without worrying about whether it will get dirty or unravel or have something snag on it.
I think 8 is wonderful. The minaudieres are fabulous but I can’t afford to indulge in something so seasonal. I’m surprised they are selling a fanny pack (#13). Seems gauche.

Interesting, creative, stimulating but ultimately not very appealing. Who wants to pay luxury prices for a seasonal novelty joke? I guess if you have more money than you know what to do with….
While I like the creativity, the mixing of materials trying to obtain that Cuban flare, the bags are not something I would purchase.

Thelse are NOT particularly creative and some are downright ugly. Maybe they look better in real. Not impressed. Cuba has much more going on than ugly army green bags.
Really poor execution on a fun theme (Chanel in Cuba)…I think these bags will literally be on the public’s radar for 15 minutes and poof! gone. Unlike 99% of Chanel bags that hold their value for resale, I’m betting these won’t.
