There are two categories of celebrities we cover here at PurseBlog: celebrities who occasionally carry nice bags by virtue of being rich and well-connected and celebrities who are just like us. They’re the ones who hoard Birkins like they may one day be banned from Hermès boutiques and who actually seem to buy bags instead of just carrying whatever brands sends to their publicists. Among that group is Hilary Duff, who is completely and totally one of us.
We’ve already spent a bit of time documenting Hilary’s full collection, but today I’d like to shed a little proverbial ink on the brand that seems to be her favorite: Chanel. Her tastes stick almost exclusively to the brand’s vaunted flap bags, but she seems to love the Classic Flap and Boy Bag equally; she has multiples of both and has carried them all time and again over the years. Curiously, she seems to have no love for the Reissue Flap.
Not only does Hilary specialize, but like a true bag lover, she wears her favorites with everything from gym clothes to cocktail dresses. Hilary might be famous, but she’s also a working mom (you will see how cute her son is in many of the photos below), and that means she has the same functional needs as many of us do, and just as little time to switch out bags between parts of her day.

I love that she wears her Chanel bags with every kind of outfit, whether dressy or casual. I’m the same, except my Chanel collection is probably 1/6th the size of hers lol.
I like to see that she really wear it coz she like it and is a fan and she wear it like she’s getting every cent out of it, too. 🙂
Not to mention I wish I can wear my jumbo cross body and look good like that. My jumbo hang awkwardly on me when being worn cross body.
I think there’s a limit on how far you can push mixing things up. Take slide #5: yoga pants, colorful sneakers and…… a CF??? Every bag is beautiful but in most of these slides the bags are mismatched to the outfits. Maybe its because I perceive Chanel as being more formal (price, prestige, design).
That said I feel the pairings in 16/18/30/31/32 are successful.

She’s a beautiful young mom and I love that she wears her Chanel bags around town with any and all of her outfits. She looks fantastic. I love the Chanel black on black bag the best. I’ve been looking high and low for it. Rock on Hilary!
Hilary Duff loves bags with the big metal plates screaming the designer’s name on them. No one does that better then Chanel hence the appeal.
Remember she also loved wearing other designs with similar aesthetics for example the Fendi Mia Borsa Grande and the Gucci 1973 tote.
Love her, she is an adorable girl with a lovely Chanel collection! I wish I could just carry my Maxi to the grocery store with yoga pants on–I think it would feel awkward but darnnit, I may just give it a try!! At least I’d get it out of the house more often!!! 🙂
