I made a special point of watching the premiere of The Bridge last night and reading the reviews this morning. Diane Kruger’s peculiar portrayal of a Texan detective with (what critics and watchers have diagnosed as) Asperger’s syndrome is already a point of contention amongst viewers. Some say she’s excessively wooden, robotic, patently unlikable and terribly miscast for the show – others contend that this is her special genius in playing someone suffering from mild autism. My big question is, why would you ever hire a German former model to play a Texan?!
