Versace Takes It Down a Notch With Its Pre-Fall 2021 Bags

Bold colors and pretty pastels pave the way for nudes and neutrals too...

Versace’s spring 2021 collection was full of bold bags in vibrant colors and while it felt so quintessentially Versace, speaking to the typical cast of characters that Donatella Versace usually designs for, like the Gigi Hadids and Kendall Jenners of the world, for pre-fall 2021, the designer decided to switch gears. “The collection is dedicated to all those men and women who are self-confident, aware of who they are, authentic. It’s a celebration of individual identity and personality. Fashion and style become even more a way to express one’s own ideas.” Donatella Versace told Vogue, of her transition to design for the everyday fashionistas among us in this pandemic world we find ourselves in.

“The collection is dedicated to all those men and women who are self-confident, aware of who they are, authentic. It’s a celebration of individual identity and personality. Fashion and style become even more a way to express one’s own ideas.”

When it comes to the bags, the collection features a solid lineup of wearable silhouettes, slightly toned down, though most were carried over from collections of the past. The brand’s medusa head logo top handle bag was seen in various bold hues for spring and makes an appearance for pre-fall as well, again appearing with a monochromatic medusa head in mostly neutrals like black, tan and olive green as well as a few pops of color.

A notable, clean new design features a sleek, 90s-like silhouette with a short shoulder strap (bearing resemblance to the Gucci Jackie) and also is finished with a medusa head. This bag appears to come in two sizes and is shown in black and muted pastels in addition to bolder hues of green and red. Overall a solid lineup of wearable bags for the everyday, take a look below at bags from this collection.

I LOVE Versace’s bags and now I can say it even here! Thanks for this post Purse Blog!
I am actually saving for this bag to wear with a total white o total hello dress: https://www.versace.com/it/it-it/donna/borse/borsa-hobo-con-mix-di-stampe-2l31v/DBFI008-DNYST7_2L31V.html?cgid=142000#start=1
I think the price is right for a fabric purse. Hope to read other Versace articles here in the future.

All these bags will be at TJMAXX in a year.

Other than the celebs who get free bags – who is their target customer? They are fun colors but styles seem like more of the same boring – no innovation at all and on top of that the chunky strap is totally unnecessary

Time for grandma Donatella to go bye bye

I don’t think so. Since ‘Palazzo’ line was presented Versace’s bags are getting better and better. I have several Donatella’s bag and I really appreciate the structure, the leather and the amazing colors. The prices are absolutely right and the quality is way better than Louis Vuitton.

i agree with you – the quality and colors are good – the palazzo bag was truly beautiful in all its variations!

Versace on Purse Blog??
You know what? I like these wearable bags both for colors and shape.
I have a Versace wallet since 2014 and it still looks great, Donatella knows how to select a good piece of leather.

I really appreciate when Purse Blog covers unexpected brands. Thank you Kaitlin from a loyal Versace customer.
I don’t like the Virtus collection, I appreciate much more the pre-fall ones. It would be great if you cover Jil Sander bags, they are so timeless. I have 2 Moschino Biker bags and I love them (especially for night out) plus some N°21 purses (good price/quality point).

I like it! I was worried that once MK took over it would go down the drain (looking at you Jimmy Choo handbags) but these are actually really nice. I could see myself buying one.

7 & 24 are very nice.
I just looked at their site – 50% off the current bags. Guess they’re making space for the new stock.

Kudos to Kaitlin and the PB team for covering Versace! It’s a great brand that I’ve always admired but never known about in a lot of detail since the best authority on bags didn’t cover it. Now it does!

Love them!!!!

I actually think these are okay and I would never have thought I would say that about Versace! Good for them making nice classic bags anyone can wear.

I skipped PurseBlog because of the same brand, thanks for cover a different one. Hope this trend will last through 2021.

No to 9, 19 and 22 but I kinda like the color blocking ones. 13 and 27 are interesting even if I see more resort than pre-fall. I’m going to visit Versace bags IRL.

I think I could start the new year with my first Versace bag ever. I need the turquoise one but without the orange chain.

I prefer when the Medusa is the same color of the leather and not golden. I red on Versace website that this bag line is called ‘La Medusa’. I wonder the price of some models.

I like this post on Versace bags for a change. I personally don’t own any Versace but there’s something interesting, especially the color blocking ones. I suggest a post on Etro’s bags too, especially the Pegasus and Rainbow! Thank you.
