Alessandro Michele continues to push boundaries and fuse his own eclectic aesthetic with Valentino’s storied heritage. Michele’s Valentino is fun, fresh, and distinct, and when Michele took over the brand’s helm, it was instantly clear that a new era was beginning.
One of the biggest bag launches of the year was also one of the biggest launches of Valentino’s new chapter, and of course, it quickly became a celeb favorite. Making its big debut for Spring 2025, the Nellcôte family of bags takes inspiration from Valentino in its maximalist days, channeling the free-spirited mood that ruled in the late ’60s and early ’70s.
Valentino’s New It-Bag Channels Retro Glam—with a Modern Twist
While the Nellcôte bag debuted on the runway (and later on Bella Hadid) in the now-instantly recognizable fringed suede shoulder bag, the line has expanded to include other shapes, like a shopper and a bumbag, plus novelty iterations with floral embroideries, animal prints, and more.
It continues to play a central role at Valentino, even as Michele’s line-up of bags expands and celebs just can’t seem to get enough of the boho-chic, studded Nellcôte family of bags.
From Anne Hathaway, who was just spotted on set wearing the classic brown version of the fringed shoulder bag, to Bella Hadid, who toted the shopper bag and the original, to a friend of the Maison, Colman Domingo, who opted for black leather and more, the styling inspo is endless. More below!

this bag is ugly and the celebs are definitely getting it for free
This bag us ugly, impractical and tacky and giving free bags to these “so called celebs” does not work in 2025
Well, not ugly exactly, not a fan either. I too think Valentino is providing the bags to most of the people pictured. Ha! Alexa Chung liked it so much she purchased two versions, unlikely.
Anne Hathaway’s whole outfit is perfection.
I believe this is on set Devil Wears Prada 2.
The bags are obviously handed out to a lot of people for free. The bag is unattractive in every way for me.
