There are many perks of living in a big city like New York, but my favorite perk of all is the constant source of inspiration that surrounds me. There’s an effervescent, creative energy that’s ever-present in this city, and nothing sparks my imagination more than living here. Though truth be told sometimes I’m overwhelmed by the non-stop thoughts that run through my head day to day. I’m continuously inspired by everything around me, and one simple walk from the subway to my favorite coffee shop can awaken a million different ideas. Sometimes those ideas are in the form of a post I’d like to write for PurseBlog, other times it’s an idea I’d like to explore in my personal journal, but oftentimes those ideas have a lot to do with fashion.
NYC’s Lower East Side area is bustling with creatives and it’s one of my favorite places to explore. I love writing in coffee shops in that neighborhood, because the creative vibe is unparalleled from that of anywhere else in the city. I like to sit and people watch too, because the fashion-game is always on point. One thing I’ve noticed lately is that neon green is suddenly popping up everywhere! First, it was a bright green beanie sprinkled here or there, but then I saw two uber-stylish girls both wearing neon green and I thought to myself ‘is this the new thing?’ One girl was rocking a fluorescent turtleneck underneath a short black bomber while her friend was sporting a bright green purse. I’m on the hunt for some fun picks to add this trend to my wardrobe, and below are the items I’m currently lusting over! What do you think of the neon trend?
Some of these are not green…
Some of them might not be considered true green but they are on the spectrum so I thought they were worth including! 🙂
This is the same color green that was fashionable in the late 80s… and I couldn’t wear it then and I can’t wear it now, ha. The difference is back then I didn’t care if I looked like I was living on the inside of a Mountain Dew can, but now I have a job and stuff and I have to worry about these things.
I do love the Prada, it looks like it could double as a cushion on a long flight. Versatile! 😉
I like the sportiness of the Lowe’s bag. I’m not sure this color works with my closet color palette (so much blue!), but that’s how I could see pulling off such an intense color!
I love neon! I’m pale-to-medium with yellow undertones so neon apparel is generally not super great looking on me, but I am a total sucker for neutrals with pops of neon accents. I’m on a spending freeze for January but I’m totally eyeing those green Air Force Ones.
Also having tried them on in all the colors every time I go to Nordstrom, the Celine cat-eye glasses are so chic and surprisingly flattering even on my big head! It’s just far and away more than I’ve ever spent on sunglasses, but if I find a few hundred dollars under the couch cushions, that’s where I’m spending it…
I love neon green! One of my favorite manicures to do in the summer is a nude with neon tips, usually neon green or hot pink.
MUST HAVE THOSE NIKES.
SAME!
Ordered. 😉
If there is the worst color than neon green, I’ve never seen it. (Don’t hate me please, LOL). Though dark green is my fave. Nikes look nice I guess.
Late to the game with the post though.
No way. This color reminds me too much of antifreeze.
