When Dior presented its Men’s Summer 2020 collection back in June it was noticeably full of bags. These bags were not just any bags though, in fact the most notable carries were tiny luggage-like trunks that models wore cross-body. There were also hard shell suitcases with wheels, though models hand carried them via a small handle. These bags were a peek into Dior’s newest capsule collection with luggage giant RIMOWA. Rimowa was founded 120 years ago and has been making high-quality travel gear ever since. From vintage wood to high-tech aluminum, Rimowa has consistently been on the forefront of innovation and design. Both leaders in their industries, a collaboration with Dior was a natural progression, and the result is clean, stylish silhouettes perfect for travel or the everyday.
Dior’s Men’s Creative Director Kim Jones created the capsule collection along with Rimowa’s team. The collection is a hybrid of both brands’ DNA. With impeccable craftsmanship, innovation and design in mind, the collection features some of Rimowa’s most-wanted pieces with an iconic Dior touch. The exclusive designs feature Dior’s seasonal colors as well as the iconic Dior Oblique print, which dates back to 1967. It’s a bit disappointing to say the least.
FWIW, various airlines have done and/or still do amenity kits in mini Rimowa cases. I’d rather have one of those. If you can’t afford the premium class airfare, you can always buy one on ebay for about $30. A bit less than Dior plans to charge, I’m sure!
That’s funny because I was on eBay and checked them out (one Ebayer has one for $50); however, there are few differences between the Dior and the mini Rimowa case.
I’m don’t want to appear sexist, but I can’t see men wearing these. Visually they aren’t appealing and the hard case makes them impractical, IMO.
“I don’t” not “I’m don’t” ?
I saw many mini-luggage crossbody hard cases in Seoul, Korea, in different colors at about $20 each when I was there last spring. This is nothing new.
