It’s going to be a busy year for Anne Hathaway.
The beloved actress, who just began work on The Devil Wears Prada 2, will also reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis, Princess of Genovea, in The Princess Diaries 3. The third film adaptation of author Meg Cabot’s series is set to begin filming this year too, making it an exciting year for Hathaway, who will step back into the roles of two of pop culture’s most beloved characters.
Andy Sachs aside, over the years Hathaway has become a fashion icon in her own right. She often lives a private life, keeping her family out of the spotlight, but when she does opt to make an appearance, her looks never (and I do mean never) disappoint.
In celebration of Hathaway’s return as Andy Sachs to the New York City streets, we’ve decided to take another look at some of the bags she’s carried since we last checked in with the style star all the way back in 2012.
Because Anne’s Bags Deserve a Sequel Too
A friend of many designer brands, Anne Hathaway often works with brands that will dress her from head to toe for events—we’re talking Versace, Gucci, and more. Still, whether dressed for an event by a brand or out and about on her own terms, her outfits lean neutral, tailored, and classic with a chic edge.

Designer Devotion: Anne’s Best-In-Class Bag Moments
Gabriela Hearst has been a favorite of Hathaway’s, who has been spotted carrying the designer’s artful, unique bags many times over the years. Speaking of artfulness, Bvlgari’s exquisitely crafted jewelry-like bags have been a favorite of the stars over the years as well.
Still, Hathaway’s choices are sometimes a bit unexpected, like her geometric Valextra Iside bag or her incredibly affordable JW Pei Maze bag. The late 2010s also saw timely favorites like the Saint Laurent Sac de Jour and Givenchy Pandora.

She is perfection! Even my critical eye can’t find anything amiss in the entire series. The outfits are put together without looking forced and the bags are phenomenal
I couldn’t agree more! What’s even cooler is that these images span nearly ten years – I believe the oldest image I pulled was from late 2016.
Neat tidbit, Anne Hathaway is the original owner of the red Peter Nitz butterfly bag. She went to lunch with Lily Collin’s and wore it. Collin’s went nuts over the bag and asked to borrow it for Emily in Paris. Nitz had to make a second identical bag for the stunts. Due to all the copious hand stitching required, it took a full week to make. He got a behind the scenes tour of the wardrobe.
It was the bag of the season for Emily in Paris.
Hathaway owns several of the Peter and James version of the bag.
I know all this because I am a long time Nitz client and stopped by the Atelier in Zurich to pick up a commission between the filming and airing of episodes. Was sworn to secrecy until the episodes aired.
Oh wow that is so nice!
Effortless style, and totally relatable. Never realized she is my de facto style icon.
Love Anne. I think she’s a vampire lol #foreveryoung
She always has a big smile!
Great collection, so diverse! She really has great relatable style.
What, no Labubus? /s
Problem is, she is so beautiful that I fall in love with whatever she wears or carries…
I never knew Ann was this stylish. She is so well put together. And so unique. I am in awe.
