Good bags don’t come cheap, and with all the price increases that we’ve been cataloging recently, they’re not going to be getting any less expensive any time soon. We know that not all of you (and, quite frankly, all of us) have the budget for a four-figure bag purchase every season, though, so we’ve done some digging into what can be had for less.
Although $600 is still a somewhat hefty budget for most of the world’s population, it can be hard to find attractive, well-made options at or below that price point, and it seems to only be getting harder. Below, we’ve listed the best the Internet has to offer. For Spring 2015, the clear winner is Tory Burch–the designer has refined and elevated her handbag line noticeably, largely doing away with huge logos in favor of modern, well-tailored totes and shoulder bags.

Is forzieri a good site to buy bags from?
Yep! They have a good selection and are reputable.
How beautiful is the simplicity of the Vince crossbody bag? Rebecca Minkoff impresses me with how quickly she is able to produce bags that are so on trend but she may need to retire some over exposed styles. She had several nice fringe bags in time for festival season this year. Tory Burch seems to be making some much needed changes to her bag offerings, I like her toggle messenger.
I love that purseblog now mentions lower priced brands more this past year like Dooney, Kate Spade and Fossil.
We’re always working to expand!
yes, claps all around for this!
Where can I buy Cavalli Class handbags? Thanks!
Thanks for this very nice post. As most bag lovers, who don’t have unlimited funds, I can’t afford to have a closet full of Chanel and Hermes. I would imagine the majority of us bag lovers buy an occasional luxury bag and then other less expensive bags to carry as well. For both our budget’s sake and our love of variety. It’s nice to see so many cute and affordable bags featured.
Thanks for this post! I LOVE that Halston drawstring, wowza!!!!!
Bravo! Some very attractive and appealing bags are featured. All price points are welcome here!

You all for got about Brahmin or is that not a designer worthy in this category?
This a very interesting selection of bags — I see at least three I’d like to own! I agree with the post below, include one from Brahmin in the under $600 list. And if, as you say, you’re always looking to expand your horizons, check out some lesser-known European brands. Like Abro. They make some great bags and if you like the woven leather look, but can’t afford Bottega Veneta prices, this is the brand for you. I understand they’re expanding into North America soon, so keep a lookout for them. In the meantime, this is the collection available in Europe — lots of styles in different materials and in different sizes, with a wide color selection. All under $500

Windsor is another good brand — they make high quality bags for well under $1000. I just bought the Henkeltasche bag (in dark brown rather than beige). It’s well made, easy to carry and the suede has been pre-treated to be water/stain resistant. https://windsor.de/de/de/damenmode/taschen/c/women/bags
I hope someday you do a special on these mid-priced German brands. There are several good ones that people outside German-speaking countries seem to know nothing about!
I agree with Samantha below. And THANK YOU to Passerine for passing on Abro.
In another post you mention an inexpensive brand called “Botikier” some celeb was wearing (I never know who these people are). I’m looking to buy my teenaged daughter her first “nice” bag. My budget is up to $500 so reading about Botikier and Abro expands my options. Hard to find colorful fun bags in my price range for older teens other than Kate Spade and Coach. If you go to a department store and look for teen bags its all Kipling and SportSac. Cute but its all gym stuff!
I LOVE this site!!! Featuring lower priced brands won’t detract from the premium brands. Its interesting but one gets a little tired of the same names over and over!
I find tons of Botikier bags at my local Marshalls & TJMaxx, while not all stores get the same inventory it might be nice to check it out. I’ve found some really great steals there!
You’re welcome! And I’m sure your daughter will love her bag, whatever she ends up getting. The most expensive brand I carried under age 40 was Longchamp — and I thought that was a big step up.
I have been eyeballing that Loeffler Randall for over a year. I love that bag. The only other ones that really caught my interest were the Rag & Bone and that Zac Posen. The color on that one is gorgeous.
