Rebecca Minkoff provides some bright winter optimism

I’m kind of stuck on bright colors lately, which is something of an anomaly for a person who is normally so convinced of black’s multitudinous charms. I even had some bright purple put in my hair yesterday, much to the chagrin of the stylist who was charged with stripping the black dye that was there before. (It’s good that I don’t have a “real” job, because if I did, my hair would be an issue.)

Part of this fascination is surely because of the much-anticipated brights trend for spring, but part of it is also the result of something of a self-fulfilling prophecy; when brights are important, designers pull out all the stops and do the most gorgeous, saturated colors that they can do, which makes the whole concept more appealing. Which, of course, brings us to the Rebecca Minkoff Everyday Tote.

Just because it’s cold right now doesn’t mean you can’t partake in the trend a bit early, and berry tones in particular work well year-round. This one is saturated, vibrant and would look lovely with charcoal and black, both of which likely play a significant role in your cold-weather dressing. I know that they certainly do in mine, and without accessories like this one, I’d probably just disappear into the winter background. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $550.

I love Rebecca Minkoff. The color is pretty, but the bag looks too small to be an everyday Tote. I guess that I would need to see it in person.
Love the second strap.

The color is lovely but the style of the bag here doesn’t work for me. (iPad)

Like the color, but wish the front mini-zip pocket was more functional. (ipad)

Redo My Shoe

I absolutely love the color, but envision this more as a work bag. Looks more messenger style to me than anything.

Gorgeous color, I like this bag very much. I used to have a color stripe in my hair. I bleached it so it was pink, purple, and red each several times before it grew out. Is (ipad) happening on this site? If so (ipad)

Lianne

I like the bag, but the purple is just too light a shade for me. A slightly darker, more muted purple would be great. (ipad)

Vitta

Besides being “trendy” by default because of the bright electric color, the overall design does not really work. Too little function and too much fuss.

Staci

I love the color! I would definitely make this an everyday bag!

Suzanne

I love bright colors in the winter! They provide just the right “pop” against the gloom. (iPad)

Marianna

I find purple to be a very “usable” color and the styling on this bag makes it a great everyday bag. I think I need to break out of my usual brand and get me some RM!

I just ordered it from NM! YaY! (ipad)

Purple is my favorite color – but this one misses the mark for me. (ipad)

Love the color, but not so much the design (ipad)

olivia

love the color, would love it in something smaller, like a clutch

Miriam

I am afraid of purple. Am I fated to a life of black hangbags?(ipad)

I love this bag, but agree, the color could be richer, darker, and maybe even muted. But I’ll still have to buy one, if not this shade, maybe find another purple. (ipad)

Shannon

the color is amazing but it looks short to be a functional tote… (ipad)

I haven’t paid this color much attention before, but I actuall ylike it (ipad)
