Marc by Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal Flap Pouchette

So many people were in love with the Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal Sasha Shoulder Bag when we wrote about it last month that i couldn’t wait for other bags from the line to start showing up online. With such an obvious hit on their hands, they had to have more waiting in the wings, right?

Right indeed! The Marc by Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal Flap Pouchette is the smaller, less expensive version that still has all the attitude of the original.

I’m really happy with the way that Marc by Marc Jacobs chose to execute this smaller version. Instead of just staking the hardware and slapping it on a rectangular little bag, they maintained a lot of the lines of the larger and more elaborate bag, but in a more streamlined way. The hardware is what really makes it, though, and the same little golden sparrow is present here.

I slightly prefer the black of the larger bag to this blue, although it would look beautiful against the grey and brown sweaters of fall. MbMJ gives you a particularly long crossbody strap where, which would allow you to layer it over thick coats and clothes when colder weather comes, but I could see this being a go-to bag all year when you want a little bit of attitude in your look.
