As I sit here from the comfort of my childhood home, I’m almost at a loss for words. A month ago, even two weeks ago, who could have imagined that we would be living in the midst of a true pandemic? On Sunday I left NYC for the suburbs to self-quarantine and help do my part to stop the spread of COVID-19. As I drove over the Williamsburg Bridge leaving my precious New York City, the place I am proud to call home, I watched the city skyline disappear behind me and I knew that life as we know would never be the same. There would only be life before Coronavirus and life after.
As we’re living in the limbo that is Coronavirus, it feels like the world has been put on hold. Socialization has come to a halt, stores, restaurants and other business have shut down, and despite the fact that this is all very real, there are times where I feel like I am living in an alternate reality. From someone who is usually pretty articulate, I do write for a living after all, I’ve found myself unable to describe what is going on. I keep repeating the word insane to those around me—it’s the only word I can use to describe what’s happening. What is going on in the world right now is truly insane.
Megs shared her thoughts on coronavirus as well earlier this week and as she said, we’re all in this together. We’re here for you as we navigate the world right now we want to do our best to serve you, our loyal community. So today we’d love for you to leave us a comment and let us know what you’d like to see from us in the coming weeks and months. We opened up the discussion a bit earlier this week, but we’d love to hear from more of you! So if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see more of (or less!), please drop us a note below. Stay safe and take care of your families during this time.
stay safe and be well, Kaitlin. Hopefully we’ll tamp down the curve and get through this….we’d better strap on those seatbelts though…we’re in for a bumpy ride ?
Everything is about shopping your own closet now, and rightly so. So, something along the lines of how to style the bags we already own in different ways?
Aside from shop-your-own closet, perhaps have crafty purse lovers contribute how they refurbished their own handbags or how they restored them. Before and after pictures of the bags they repaired or repurposed are very welcome. There might be artistic bag owners out there who painted their damaged or stained handbags to give it new life.
It’s also OK, to share articles about purse-lovers who are not economically or financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. There’s always another side to the same coin. I think people are still curious about the ones fortunate enough to still be able to afford luxury goods despite economic downturns, disasters, and pandemics.

Recent times makes fashion and shopping feel frivolous for certain. With that said we all need a diversion, something to get our minds off of the current situation. Perhaps focus on what the future will bring to all things fashion, future collections etc. Things to look forward to in better times.
I am interested in learning everything about all handbag brands. I’d like to know more about Bulgari and Balmain since there isn’t a lot of information about these brands. Also, I don’t see a lot of people carrying them and I’m curious as to why? I guess anything and everything that can be printed would be great to distract me, and all of us, from this current crisis. Thx!
In Asia and Oceania, Bvlgari is getting quite popular. I have two bags from Bvlgari and must say that quality is really excellent and heaps better than Louis Vuitton bags! Very elegant and modern design. Plus Bvlgari has been adding more beautiful bag collection and sometime difficult to chose.
You better visit at nearest Bvlgari store and check their collection with your naked eyes.
I want some investigative/insider knowledge about Italic (www.italic.com). It’s the by-invite-only online retailer that sells luxury goods (most of them are leather handbags) from (allegedly) the same manufacturers for Celine, Miu Miu, etc. without the high mark-up (which is mostly paying for the exclusive feeling of membership that a luxury brand seeks to achieve for its patrons). However, many of Italic’s goods that are from manufacturers that claim are the same that produce for said luxury brands also state “Made in China” on the webpage. I thought houses like Celine and Miu Miu only manufacture in Italy and France, and that “Made in China,” when crossed with these brand names, indicate that it’s counterfeit. Please investigate and do an article on it! Thank you!
I want to write this!!!!!!
Any chance you started writing this article? I don’t think anyone else has…
Please do- I want to read it!
There was an article somewhere about this company recently. But it was mostly about how non-branded stuff is popular now. Italic is still a brand though. I’d be curious to know about their manufacturing too.
I am also curious about Natalie Portman being an ambassador for Dior. She is vegan and insists that she doesn’t wear leather, yet carries Dior handbags. I have heard that Dior has custom made leather-free handbags for her, but is there an insider scoop that we can get on this?
More about how to sell our handbags safely because some of us are going to have to soon.
I’m not concerned about “selling bags safely” because I don’t have Covid-19 (I’ve been to the Dr.). I’m concerned about getting a fair price for my bags. I tried to sell 3 pristine, high end designer bags to Fashionphile, only to get offers of 40%-50% when they typically offer 70% or even more, especially when it’s Hermes and/or Chanel. Maybe their offer was so insultingly low because their sales have declined, but Idk.
Maybe its supply and demand – high for seller and buyer. Online retailers are in the middle so they can pay less to buy and sell at a premium.
Sadly, I haven’t touched any of my bags in days since we are facing a lock down. And when I go to the grocery store, I certainly won’t take a Hermès bag along with me right now. This is the “Spring of No Handbags”: What doesn’t fit in my pockets stays home.
Bag reviews perhaps your own closet! Maybe more reflective pieces about your collection as a whole. Bag customizations and small brands who are struggling definitely need to be highlighted. I hope everyone is well
I would like to see more articles discussing vintage pieces. I would also love to see more bag reviews because they are informational and can prepare me for something exciting for myself for when this is all over, even if it’s bags you have owned. Someone said small brands and I think that’s a terrific idea!
Anything from Notorious Pink! Love her articles since they are in depth and thought provoking!
Oh you just made my week!!! ?????
I want to be business as usual here. I get enough Coronavirus info everywhere else!!
Archives and the best way to shop deals on 2nd hand retail
since there are not many celebrity street style picture how about street style flash backs like multicolor bags or fends or all those super cool minimal 90s bags…….. for fun
I would like to see some old school looks/bags. Maybe do a celebrity street style but find pictures from the 90’s or even the 80’s.
I also like the idea about featuring less known companies and telling us more about them. For example I went into Loro Piana in Las Vegas and had no idea they are owned by LVMH and use the same leathers as Hermes. And their bags are crazy expensive but have a loyal following. Would love to know more about them, their bags, their designers, etc.
Some more “the many bags of” posts! Maybe even some updated ones!
I might be alone in this, but I’d be interested in knowing how fashion houses respond to this crisis. Like LVHM making hand sanitizer instead of perfume or Christian Siriano making face masks.
Now that would be an article worth reading!
Would love to see which bags you recommend using during this tough time, something to help the mood? Something which is easier to wipe down after taking out? Something smaller and more compact whilst everyone dresses down.
Then I think a round up on all the bargains we can get given all the retailers are now forced to trade online.
Then I’d be interested in how to get the best value when reselling your bags- something some people may have to do during this time. And bag depreciation rates by brand on best selling styles.
Finally where does this leave the handbag industry in the next 6-9 months, predictions, fashion trends and the effect on our buying habits going forward.
Thanks!
Flashback pics of old It bags (for the nostalgia). More Closet Confessionals.
The dollar is very strong now. Suggest sites that will ship from Europe to the USA? Can’t do that with all sites. Many brands force you to order online from their USA site (with significantly higher prices) when shipping to a USA address.
I’d love a vintage/throw back Thursday celebrity street style; like Princess Di, Elizabeth Taylor, 90s supermodels, etc.
I recently bought a SAGE AUBREY bag– limited batches crafted in Italy. Incredible quality. Incredible back story on the brand. if you’re looking for an unknown brand that’s woman owned.
I would love to see articles on preserving and bringing back a handbag to life – Kind of like a handbag spa, since we can’t go ourselves.
