Latest Obsession: The Proenza Schouler Blanket-Print PS1

Proenza Schouler Blanket Print PS1, $2290 via Net-a-Porter

I’ve had Proenza Schouler on my list as the next bag to add to my collection for quite some time, but since I made that decision, I’ve spent months dithering over exactly which bag to get. It seems like every new bag that Proenza releases is something I would kill to have in my closet, which makes actually taking the plunge a rather fraught thing to do. Sure, I adore the PS11 right now, but buying Proenza is sort of like buying an Apple product – should I get the awesome thing that I really want right now, or should I wait six months and see what kind of exponentially-more-awesome thing the brand will surely come up with? Big problems, these.

That’s why Megs and I write about nearly every version of the Proenza Schouler PS1 that comes out; I can’t speak for her, but I’m almost always driven to lust by each one of them. Lust and confusion, which is where I’m at right now with the Proenza Schouler Blanket-Print PS1, brand new for Fall 2011. I thought I wanted a PS11?

There’s just something so essentially Proenza about this PS1 in particular. The combination of tan and neon yellow against black, the pixelated take on traditional Native American blankets, the rich black leather that borders the whole thing. It’s a multicolored bag that can be worn like basic black in a casual setting, and those kinds of special-yet-useful accessories are what take an entire ensemble to the next level. Not only will this bag make you automatically the coolest kid on the block, but you’ll actually get some good use out of it while it works its special Proenza magic. Ladies, I can’t even explain to you how much I want this bag. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $2290.

i totally get what you mean. if i had the money to buy one PS11, i couldn’t even decide on the size, least of all on the model lol
there’s really something magical about those bags, isn’t it?

I love the PS1 so much so that I bought 2 a couple of years ago. This bag is certainly a keeper later on but not one that I could imagine wearing frequently in the season. But then again, I love to change my bag often. Is that price for the small one? Jeez…

That print does not appeal to me at all. Much too crafty. It’s exactly the opposite of how I see Proenza Schouler.

While I love the PS1 and have considered purchasing one many times……some other designer bag always beats it out when I actually make the purchase. I still may own a PS1, but this one looks like a saddle bag. The PS1 is already on the masculine side, that is why the fabulous colors that is comes in make all the difference. This one, they can keep.

I’ve never gotten the PS1 fever, even after examining them in Barneys. They’re nice, sure, but lots of bags are nice. For the money, I’ll take a pass. I think I’m too old for this. I cannot be described as “hip”. I like alot of PS clothes, however.

i totally with you PS1 bag is really boring….

It’s not that you’re too old. I’m 26 and I don’t like it, lol. And trust me, I’ve tried (cause I was starting to feel like I’m supposed to) but it just doesn’t appeal to me.

Wow, I love it, but right now I love having electricity and cable tv more. Too expensive.

Jennifer

It’s okay but looks like something I’d see at Walmart and I’d still pass on it.

Pinkfeet

Does it come with a horse? It’s so.. so.. I think an old western gun slinger could make use of this for the shoot out at the O.K. Corral.

I like the PS1 and especially PS11 in general, but not this one. This one reminds me of something I could buy at a flea market or crafts fair.

jrl

it would make a perfect man bag

want want want
