While every major house introduces seasonal designs that showcase a typically more trendy appeal for that given time, the classic elements from a house are what originally drew us to the brand and set the brand apart. When you think of Prada bags, you undoubtedly think of their famed Saffiano leather. I know I do. Prada utilizes one of the most beautiful Saffiano leathers, which is very durable and makes the Emblème easily recognizable as Prada from a distance.

I have always been a fan of the staples from Prada (Galleria and Double are personal favorites) and this new little number may easily make it’s way into that realm for me as well. Here’s your first look at the Prada Emblème Bag, a sophisticated Saffiano bag that is both minimalistic and timeless.

Upon seeing these bags for the first time, I immediately was struck with the distinctive design that’s clean and both modern and ageless at once. With the movement toward casual wear continuing to ramp up, I find the Emblème bags to be highly refreshing in their simplicity. If you are a Prada classic lover, the Emblème will appeal to you.

The Saffiano leather holds vibrant colors beautifully. This bag is offered in six colorways, all of which ship with gold-tone hardware including the easily identifiable logo plaque push-lock clasp closure. I have a hard time narrowing down the color that I like most, as each one lends itself to a different occasion and outfit in my mind. A camel coat would pair so well with the green version and the black can be dressed up or down so easily. Saffiano leather makes any bag it adorns appear very clean, neat and sophisticated in a way that allows the bag to be used for more formal day and evening wear while still able to be dressed down.
As to what fits inside? We fit a phone, smaller wallet, lipstick, keys, sunglasses, and a couple other small beauty items (overall dimensions are 14cm H x 5cm D x 20.5cm W).

The adjustable Saffiano leather shoulder strap sits nicely over the body and I always find Saffiano leather to be quite light and easy to carry. You can shorten the strap quite a bit to allow the bag to sit snugly crossbody if you choose or lengthen it to hang comfortably over your shoulder. On the inside of the bag you’ll find black leather lining and a zipper pocket. The overall design and aesthetics of the bag are simple, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t beautiful. This bag works with your summer dresses and will transition into fall with your first coats of the season.

With the movement toward maximalism going strong, this minimalistic design is welcomed as a design that will surely make its way into your bag wardrobe to be used on repeat for years to come. Available via Prada for $1,990.
This is sooo lazy. Literally looks like any other bag with PRADA written on it.
I hate to say negative things about the companies that work with PB as I know it’s a great place to market bags to us purse lovers, but I have a few issues with this bag. First, why does Prada think they can charge $2,350 for this bag? This is maybe a $1800 bag at best. And why does Prada think we all want to walk around with that logo screaming out? I think Prada is making a good comeback, though nowhere near their 90’s fame, but I don’t see that continuing if they are going to price their bags on par with the more successful brands. They need to work their way back up slowly and carefully.
They always had Prada spelled out . Only it was in triangle with mostly nylon bags . Instead of carrying huge c like Chloe or huge v or whatever letter of war of the bags . Prada logo looks pretty good because each bag is tonal ( white bag has white , green with green) instead of slapping same hardware on every color bag . Also opens really uniquely . Perfect crossbody if you ask me
It’s only $1,990.00 on the Prada website. You can see at: YSL.com
We fixed the price – not sure what happened, but when we first worked on this piece it was $2350, and then moved down to $1,990. I do think it is a better price point at that number
Missed your no-nonsense writing style:)
Slowly but surely coming back!
Prada.com NOT YSL. com. Clearly, my mind was somewhere else! ?
Really not loving the enamel hardware. Reminds me of those cheesy watches you swap out the bezel for “DIFFERENT, FUN COLORS! No thanks.
Despite the other comments, I like this bag! Dunno if I would with that price tag, maybe I’ll wait until a sale. I like the green color and the classic shape – reminds me a bit of a Celine box bag but cheaper and with a Prada logo!
The texture of the leather looks to die for
It was first listed as $2350, but the bag is actually $1,990!
Its really not ugly, just very, very boring and “lazy”. It could just as well be a bag from Zara or H&M or whatever.
The green color is beautiful. The price is too high, unfortunately. Prada should take some cues from Gucci.
i like this bag but it should be about $ 1800 but the price point is still good at $ 2000 – its a beautiful classic design and the strap gives it flexibility to wear it as a should strap or cross body! the colors are amazing as well – hope they have good hardware quality
I love the colors on these bags and Prada Saffiano leather is really beautiful and durable.
Is it just me, or does the color look weird? I’m not leather dyeing expert, but it seems to me like the color is just sitting on top of the saffiano instead of being fully saturated.
Which color – or all of them?
I thought this too! But again, I no expert either.
I really like this bag and agree that $2350 would be steep for it, but it’s actually listed for $1990 on the Prada website.
We fixed the price. The bag when we first shot it and worked on this feature was $2350, but between then and when we went live with the feature, the price was changed.

I saw that, too. What does “make an appointment” mean, if you know. Also, I did the cm to inches conversion and it’s about 5.5 x 7.8 so it’s small, but pretty.
You can make an appointment at the store and they’ll hold the bag for you to come and see it.
Thank you for taking your time to respond to me! Appreciate it!
First thing i noticed as well. The hand in the photos for reference made it look too small for everyday needs. It needs an inch or 2 extra in all directions, but I’m sure they were worried to make it the exact size of the Celine box.
Yes, it needs to be larger for my purposes. I don’t carry bags that are 5.5″ in height or width since they look too small on my 5’10” frame. Also, I need a bag that can carry more than a few items since I don’t carry a lot, but I do have daily essentials.
I think that it is lovely and minimalistic, which is nice. Every bag has hardware so I don’t know why this bothers some ppl, but ok. I actually saw this last night on the Prada website and then today it’s on Purseblog, great coincidence! I’m torn between the green and gray since these are 2 colors that I don’t own and need more diversity in my collection. BTW and completely off topic, but does anyone on the East coast call their “bags/handbags” “pocketbooks”? I have a friend in her 30’s that always corrects me when I say bags. 🙂
Yes, we East Coasters generally use the term handbags and pocketbook! I do like this Prada bag.
This is basically a Coach bag that says “Prada” on it.
The green they chose is perfection but the bag is meh. Not a fan of the big logo on the clasp.
Exactly. It’s a bog standard bag that happens to have one great color option (reminds me of Hermes’ malachite). Wayyyy overpriced and unlike other super expensive bags — for example, the Birkin — it doesn’t have people desperate to get one.
Megs: why are there no interior shots? Yes, there is one on the Prada site, but PB readers have repeatedly asked for inside shots of bags you get to try, esp showing what fits into them. Did Prada tell you not to take any?
No, they didn’t tell us not to take them! Let me see if we have any that I can include.
I LOVE it. Finally a new bag from Prada I’m interested in.
Price a bit high but I’ll consider it. If it was $1800 I’d buy immediately. Would look fantastic in one of their printed leathers too. A lot of people hate the Saffiano but I love it because it’s perfect for the climate I live in.
Price is $1990. When we first started working on this piece, it was higher, but they brought it down. And I love Saffiano too!

I think ad posts need to be labeled as such. It’s a good ad, don’t get me wrong, and I’m actually onboard with ad-in-article-form instead of annoying banner ads, but when it’s not labeled it makes me feel cheated, like the site is not genuine. Just like how Amazon has “I got this for free in exchange for a review, let me tell you my thoughts” – I’ll read it if I feel it’s transparent. As it is: Yet another Prada ad on PB, and a boring H&M bag with a logo anyway. Yawn.
Hate to say it, but I find it a bit sad how Prada advertises incessently on PurseBlog. Cheapens the brand.
Oops, silly me – I actually did see now the subtitle that I had missed. Ignore me. Still boring bag!
We always label sponsored posts as such. The top of the post will say “In Collaboration with” so you can’t miss it. We never post anything that was paid for and not mark it!
Sadly, this was brought up before but most readers who comment here don’t seem to care. Personally, I just look at the pics and skip the “article” as soon as I see “in collaboration.”
It looks like the Celine box bag and Gucci Marmont had a baby.
I like the bag, I appreciate the classic shape, but saffiano just doesn’t feel like luxury material so I don’t think it’s appropriate to charge a luxury price for it! I get it for their work totes because those are everyday bags that need to be able to handle more wear and tear, but this shape does not fall into that category.
A very meh bag for that price. No thank you.
I love the bag, hate the giant plate and logo. I can’t wait for that trend to be over…
It looks very ordinary. I can find the same bag for a fraction of the price at another brand.
From the front it looks like a Constance, but without the compartments. Despite the in-your-face logo, I find them nice. I bet they look great in person.
Omg. How many more seasons, from all design houses, do we have to see this style of bag? Season after season, year after year, it’s the same small, boring, extensively basic bag over $2k. Enough.
I like it very much but I like to use my full size wallet in all my bags. I hate it when a purse it just a bit too small for your regular size wallet.
I like the bag. But what is missing from the review is the actual strap drop. Also why list the dimensions in cm?? I know that’s what the lazy Prada site does but to appeal to everyone it would make sense to list in both cm and inches. and no I sure don’t think this bag is anywhere worth $2k!
MEH. Nothing exciting to see here, especially for the price point. Moving on. If they dispensed with the saffiano and offered it in other skins, it might appeal more. But I dislike saffiano and Epsom leathers. They look and feel too plastic-y for my tastes.
Omg I want it so bad. The white one please. Love its timeless silhouette. Just chic and minimal besides the big ol logo lol
They are very cute, but I can’t get with the entire name emblazoned on the front.
Initials that create a design are one thing, but I’m not a fan of wearing someone’s actual name. It feels like wearing my shirt inside out with the label showing.
It’s ok for me.
