Michael Kors Bets Heavy on New Logo Hardware for Its Collection Spring 2020 Bags

Is the logo love ever going to end?

Michael Kors is one of the most iconic American designers of our time and his runway show presentation at NYFW is one of the most star-studded, and highly anticipated events of the week. Though Michael Kors is most synonymous with his Michael Michael Kors (who could forget the infamous Hamilton Bag) line, the show that Kors puts out at NYFW showcases the Michael Kors Collection. Perhaps it’s because of that diffusion line that Michael Kors tends to group handbag lovers into two extreme categories: you either love them, or well, you don’t. Either way, Kors continues to see success in that he’s created a clear vision of a nautical, and so very, Americana luxury.

Perhaps in an effort to differentiate his collection bags from his diffusion line, Kors introduced a brand new hardware logo for Fall 2019. According to the brand’s social media channels, the ‘MKC’ hardware was hand sketched by Michael Kors himself, and is based on sketches from when he was just a teenager. This move is truly unsurprising, as the logo obsession is at its peak. For Spring 2020, Kors continues to capitalize on the logo movement, relying heavily on this new branding, both in large scale, and small scale ways.

Overall, the collection was fairly nautical themed, featuring stars and stripes accompanied by tones of blue, white and gold. Models accessorized their Americana looks with straw bags, perfect for a spring or summer day. Though the ‘MKC’ was featured throughout the collection, there were a few shapes that did not feature the new logo. A top handle bowling bag in smooth leather was shown as well as a flap bag with a belt-buckle like detailing. View all of the bags below.
