If you, like me, went to a particularly preppy college, or you grew up in a part of the country that counts boat shoes as a closet essential, then you’ve probably seen plenty of clothes with little whales and turtles embroidered on them. And not just for women, either–I’ve seen plenty of men in navy pants with tiny, red lobsters all over them. As he so often does, Thom Browne took those preppy tropes and distorted them into a dark, twisted menswear collection.
None of the bags got the all-over animal treatment, but a few of them were turned into real-life embodiments of those animals, including a couple wonderfully clever whale bags. If you (or your man) prefer things more straight-on traditional, Browne also showed a number of his classic doctor bags in different textures of inky black.

Hmmm…The turtle is cute and the whale is interesting. The others look a little too feminine for me.
Ditto, I’m really diggn’ the turtle backpack.
I would like to have the whale tote-just to carry on the plane. I could talk to it, put it under the seat in front of me, and retrieve things out of its mouth and blowhole. It would make the air travel a little more fun again.
Does anyone know when they’ll be released? I need to start saving up some money to buy that turtle backpack!!
The whale and turtle are cute and nice conversation pieces. What I love most is the black briefcase as it’s a modern take on an old school classic. The other ones are too feminine. My husband thinks that they look like handbags.
That whale tote is just too funny!!
That turtle backpack(?) is very cute. I don’t a man that would be caught dead carrying it but I would.
