Louis Vuitton Re-Releases Its Odéon Bag

An 80s favorite returns with fresh updates

Archival revivals are the norm for brands these days, and Louis Vuitton specifically continues to reissue styles from its archives time and time again these days. Often, these revivals are given slight updates to modernize the silhouettes a bit and today we’ve got info on latest re-issue from Louis Vuitton.

For Fall 2020, the brand updates a previous design of the same name, bringing back a sleek crossbody bag that originated in the 1980s. The House dipped into its archives for inspiration and has introduced an all new version of its Odéon bag. The new version of the Odéon bag features classic Monogram canvas with modern updates, including a black leather trim option. Though the original version of the bag featured natural cowhide trim, the update is crafted with semi-aged cowhide details.

Described as a “body-friendly satchel-like” bag, Louis Vuitton has made a few updates to this classic bag, combining vintage design with the needs of today. The shape itself is slightly less round, though it still features a large interior capacity and an adjustable strap. A double zip closure allows for maximum functionality and the new update showcases several heritage details classic to the House of Louis Vuitton. A leather luggage hangtag as well as leather corners offer a sophisticated update to a classic design. The new Odéon bag comes in two sizes, the MM which retails for $1,900 and the smaller PM, which costs $1,770. Both sizes feature pockets for maximum organization—both an outside flat pocket with a magnetic closure as well as an inside flat pocket. I like the old version better. The new one is too busy.

Tag stitched in middle for no reason ruins it.

I agree!

Omg! I really love this. I think it looks sophisticated and minimalistic!

I really like the one with the black leather! I’ve been looking for a LV crossbody and this might be it!

Sofia

And of course it’s not available on their website ::sigh::

I have ordered mine since seeing it on instagram on 1/7/20 and now waiting for it to be shipped which will take another 2 weeks!! It’s not available where I am yet so probably the first person in the country to get my hands on it (per what the CS said) !! But to find a chance to use it during this pandemic….hmmmm

I have managed to order and pay for mine earlier this week as I knew I wanted it since I saw it on instagram on 1/7/20 (did not own the previous version). And now waiting for it to be shipped which will take approx 2 weeks. It’s not available in my country yet so as the CS said, I may be the first person in the country to own it which is so exciting! Now to find a chance to use it during the pandemic would be tricky. I do like a monogram without the vanchetta to allow longer use instead of a damier ebene which can be functional over the shoulder and cross body. Will post on the forum once received.

I find this shape to be grandma-ish.

Not at all similar to the original, as far as I can tell (which I like lots more). The tag just hanging there is bad design.

I think its removable so you can always put some other LV bag jewelry on it or just leave the loop. Weird placement though I agree.

It’s time for Louis Vuitton to think about prices.
My priority has been changed and no longer interested in any new their products!!
Plus most of their products are looks like designed for specifically Z Generation or filthy stupid rich kids!!
Simply I don’t see any points to add more new bags. Just happy with my current collection bags. Cheers

This bag looks bizarre – the placement of the luggage tag and proportions are just off

Does anyone know if the Odean bag date code would ever be HL 0098?

Kaddy

Where did you find the data code , I have a new Odeon PM and cannot find it

Sandy

Since March 2021, LV stopped using date codes tags in their bags. Instead, they embeds a microchip inside the bag to replace the date code. CAs at the LV stores have the phone app that can read the microchip which tells you when and where the bag is made.
