Louis Vuitton Pushes ‘New Classics’ In Its Latest Campaign

Move over Speedy bag, there's a new classic in town

Louis Vuitton is one of the most classic handbag brands around. Since its inception, Louis Vuitton has been known for its durability and classic styles, as the brand originally began as a maker of luxury travel goods. One of the most iconic handbags of all time, and a bag that many people begin their designer handbag collections with is the Louis Vuitton Speedy. Instantly recognizable, the Louis Vuitton Speedy in Monogram Canvas is a true classic. This Spring, Louis Vuitton is aiming to introduce new classics with its latest ad campaign. This week the ‘New Classics’ campaign was released starring 3 brand ambassadors alongside 3 styles. The campaign is said to represent the relationship that exists between creative individuals and their Louis Vuitton bags. Vuitton has deemed 3 of its iconic bags ‘new classics’. The Twist Bag, the Capucines bag, and brand new for Spring 2019, the Dauphine bag (stay tuned for a close look at this bag) are all featured in the campaign alongside Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander and Léa Seydoux. I absolutely adore the Capucine, but it’s priced so crazily compared to all their other models.

Darietta

Yes! I loved that bag from the very beginning but the price…

Yaffa S. Porat

Yes, I AM poor by these prices, but it never hurts to dream!

And you are RUDE!

Darietta

Ahah, I guess so

Kate

If that wasn’t a joke, it was moronic. (And the lack of punctuation a cherry on top.)

Karlie

What would make you ask such a rude question?

FashionableLena

I’ve always loved the Capucines and the Twist. I just can’t seem to take the steps to buy one. They’re even pricey on the secondhand market.

Bryan Lepe

I don’t feel like the Dauphine should be on this so called “classics” list. You can call something whatever you want as a business but it’s ultimately the consumer that gives it the title. I’ve always liked the twist but not enough to purchase it. It’s definitely not on my radar at the moment. Even though their black on black version is amazing.

Passerine

Agree. It’s not the brands that decide what is and isn’t a classic, it’s the customers (and time). “new” classic? The “jumbo shrimp” of luxury goods marketing.

Bryan Lepe

I’m dying at jumbo shrimp. Lmao.

Master Green

I love the Twist. Bought one as a gift last year and she loves it so much. I think the Capucines is a beautiful bag, but for the price I would probably spend a bit more and go to Hermès.

Lori

Totally agree. I would just wait and get a Hermes too. It’s just smart shopping. 😉

Eleanor

Precisely! I’d rather spend a couple thousand more and get a Kelly. It’s not that I wouldn’t spend the price of the Capucines on a bag, but it’s just hard to swallow when nothing else at LV even comes close to that price (except exotics of course).

Lori

Totally agree with you.

Lolly

I would love to spend a bit more and go to Hermes, but its so hard to get them to sell me the bags I want – never in stock! So frustrating!

Lolly

Liar

Bryan Lepe

That’s how I feel about Chanel

Manolos21

I couldn’t bear to buy the Capucines at retail, but I got a preowned one for about $1800 off retail, and that made it a little more palatable. I’ll say that it’s very well made and just a very classic looking bag, both perfect for work and also just to add a little bit of polish to a super casual outfit.

Unapologetic

Capucines is just ok. Boring IMO. The rest are hideous.
