A Close Look at the Louis Vuitton Capucines BB Bag

Elegance meets functionality in this beautifully crafted bag

Louis Vuitton is known around the world for its classic logo print monogram canvas. While many bag lovers, myself included start their premium designer bag collections with a classic Louis Vuitton style such as a Speedy, or a Neverfull, Vuitton devotees know that the brand offers so much more than these well known and ever-popular styles. While monogram canvas is super durable and extremely iconic, Vuitton’s other bags are also incredibly well made and beautifully crafted. This is more than apparent in the Louis Vuitton Capucines BB Bag, which currently has my heart going pitter patter.

The striking details on this bag are what first captured my attention. The shiny gold metal studs are arranged to look like the suns rays as this design was inspired by a majestic sun sculpture which is located at the house’s flagship on Place Vendôme in Paris. This chic design adds a beautiful and eye-catching touch to the Capucines BB bag, which is crafted in full-grain Taurillon leather. The leather is smooth and has a really nice hand, but the full-grain component makes this leather much more durable than a smooth leather bag. Additionally, the bag has four metal feet, which makes this bag pretty resistant to damage while still looking stylish and elegant. This bag can be carried one of two ways—via the top handle strap, or using the longer, detachable strap, which is adjustable.

Inside, the Capucines BB is lined in smooth calfskin leather and is separated into two compartments for maximum organization. There is a zippered pocket on the back interior of the bag as well as a slit pocket on the front interior of the bag. While the top flap of the bag does keep your belongings hidden, there is not a metallic closure or anything of the sort. The flap can be tucked inside or left on the outside of the bag, which changes up the look of the bag. Simply put, this bag is a true showstopper and though this incredibly classy bag just doesn’t fit my current needs and style, I certainly wish it did.

i absolutely love this bag! i’m surprised at the comments that it’s impractical, because i use it for work and any/every occasion. i don’t have the habit of closing my bag though (i live in a very safe country), so this is perfect for lazy me. the bag looks tiny, but it can fit a fair bit. i thought that it was worth every cent! one of the few LV designs i love 🙂

I have a LV Capucines and it is gorgeous (navy blue with pink trim) but so impractical and I would give a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10 for functionality. IMO it looks best and closes better with the tab tucked in. While I adore the look of the bag, I sort of regret having let my husband talk me into buying it because it is definitely not the bag for the life I actually lead. It’s the bag for the “lady who lunches” and arrives to lunch in a lovely suit via private car service or personal driver.

while i like the plain bag in theory its so impractical – this iteration is just ugly

Sorry if this is readily apparent but is this bag’s leather smooth or pebbled? Thnx

Jerri R

Pebbled.

I’m not a Louis Vuitton fan per se. I only like the Twist, Cluny, Montaigne, and Capucines. The Capucines is a stunning bag, and I love the B.B. size. I just don’t see myself dropping that kind of money on LV. One day, I may purchase on the secondhand market.

I saw this bag in a “SoBlack” version and I am in love.

I’ve always loved this bag and am still debating whether I should pull the trigger, but that price for an LV is insane! I own a couple of their bags but don’t think any of their bags are worth more than 3k max. I mean should I buy a Capucines or a Chanel flap instead? Because their prices are practically the same ?

This is a beautiful bag it is very ladylike.

Thanks Kaitlin. The bag is beautiful. I wish it were more affordable though. I’d rather spend money on the twist or steamer instead.

It would be nicer without the studs

Passerine

A nice bag but the studs diminish its appeal. LV, step away from the Bedazzler!

I am currently looking at buying the Capucine MM not the BB as it’s a bit small for me. I don’t like the studs on the front as I think that makes the bag a bit more trendy & conspicuous. I prefer a classic, elegant & timeless look which for me is the MM & not the BB. I do love the contrasting details in the MM bag although, interesting note from the SA regarding the MM. Only couple of color options compared to the BB which has more color choices.
