Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez Reimagine the Iconic Loewe Amazona Bag for Spring 2026

A new era of Loewe is upon us...

Loewe Amazona 180 SS26

The incredible design duo behind one of fashion’s most beloved New York-based brands has officially landed in Paris. On Friday, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez presented their highly anticipated debut collection for Loewe, which was a mix of bold colors, out-of-the-box craft, and a handful of delightful new bags.

Loewe is, first and foremost, a leather goods House. Still, its ready-to-wear pieces have garnered critical acclaim over the years, thanks to the attention to detail and craft set by McCollough and Hernandez’s predecessor Jonathan Anderson.

Reinterpreting Spanish Craft Through American Sportswear

With Loewe’s rich history and forward thinking in mind, the duo chose to redefine its Spanish identity, fusing Loewe’s storied commitment to craft with their own distinct design DNA. The result? An innovative, bold (and colorful) collection. Codes of American sportswear (think jeans, button-downs, and anoraks) met sharply tailored jackets and sculptural leather dresses.

Taking a page out of Anderson’s book, nothing is what it seems. Dresses appearing to be crafted from terrycloth towels are actually 3D printed, and jeans are crafted from leather.

The Reinvention of the Loewe Amazona

Of course, Loewe is known for its exceptional leather bags, and that’s where McCollough and Hernandez really shined this season. Icons are revisited and revived. The new Amazona 180 sees a slouchy, double-faced take on a brand classic. Designed to be worn open, revealing an inner leather panel with snaps to keep your belongings secure, it’s fitted with dual straps for versatility.

Elsewhere, a stunning Murano glass clutch takes Loewe’s craft to the next level, while the Flamenco bag sees leather layers. A fun bucket bag with a bold LOEWE typeface logo is fitted with a hidden bottle opener. View looks from the runway below and get a close-up look at bags from the brand’s Spring 2026 resee, hosted yesterday at Loewe’s Paris Headquarters.

So, the trend right now is 1 handle bag that supposed to be 2? It’s like carrying a fully opened Kelly but not in a good way

I’m not liking the one handle, out-of-balance trend. It doesn’t look good to me and I wonder how long a bag would last with that design. I sure hope the the panel connecting the handle has some type of extra hidden reinforcement somewhere.

The change of the anagram logo is a huge miscalculation that I feel they would only realize later would cost the brand, to new and old customers alike. People are already warmed up to Loewe as a brand, and the classic anagram with 4 L’s is easy to the eyes due to its symmetry. The new logo looks like something else from afar, harder to recognize instantly as Loewe

This one-sided handle trend is an odd one. Same thing was seen at the new Dior by Johnathan Anderson. I wonder how this new Amazona will be received by fans!

Is it me, or is it giving Givenchy Pandora reboot? Not a bad thing, I love the Pandora (have two of them haha). Jury’s still out for me. Would love to see updates on how they slouch over time with wear.

I don’t prefer the Amazona 180. It looks awkward holding the one strap. Also, walking down the street with a bag opened just invites trouble even if it has snaps to hold items in.

Tony

Oh no, they messed with the logo.

Falalala

Why does the new logo look like a pretzel? I don’t hate it. But I like the old one way better.

Fae

this. I’m disappointed they’re not considering how it look at a glance. Heard that it’s to symbolize two creative directors co-directing but to me it doesn’t need to be taken literally as to change the logo (to an unrecognizable silhouette)

Arleta

Total crap, that’s what happens when you run out of ideas.

Jack & Lazaro had difficulty maintaining the level of Jonathan Anderson and have far exceeded it. I’m glad about the return of the Amazon 36 that with Jonathan had disappeared with that one-handgle trend, remembering the Peekaboo but with the essence of the Amazon so perfectly rectangular. What I have missed are more proposals for leather bags, but I understand that it is enough to start with. Jonathan presented the Puzzle to the second fashion show.

These are amazing. Every time I see a new Loewe collection, it reminds me to stay away from the other brands. I need to save my money for Loewe!

Years ago I purchased a bag with the off balance one handle; I think it was a Hill & Friends bag. Every time I used it I found it disconcerting and difficult to get into so it rarely got used. For this reason alone I think Loewe has missed the boat this season.

There’s a longer strap at the back so it looks like you can carry it on the shoulder and close the zipper. I prefer Jonothan Anderson’s version though for Dior
